The 2 pt conversion, kid hit his rollout perfectly in a high pressure situation. Very well done
He also completed a beautiful 40+ yard pass to Dural right before he was about to get rocked by a D linemen. His ability throw receivers in stride is good already. The next two games should build a lot more chemistry with the offense.

Jennings looked pretty good last night considering he got no help from the o-line or the play calling for the first half of the game. Tough to get the offense going when the d knows whats coming before you snap the ball.

Yaa, I'm happy we play Sam Houston State next so that should give him more confidence and also give Harris a chance to play and get some type of experience.
Agree 100%

To be fair, Jefferson dreams of throwing 230 yards and 2 TDs

Unless he's on the move, Jennings doesn't really throw a catchable ball.
The pass to Diarse for the TD was from the pocket. It was a perfect throw.

so harris gets one pass play where he's sacked because someone whiffed on their man in front of him, and now harris lost the job?
I didn't say Harris lost the job, Jennings won the job. It was always his to lose, and anyone that thought otherwise was being naive, and still doesn't understand our coaching staff.

Jennings looking awful for most of the night.
I just watched the game for the third time. This just isn't true. He surely wasn't spectacular, such as screen play execution, but the dude can make plays and looks in control. I didn't note one poor passing decision.

he had 130 something yards on two plays.
What in the world does this have to do with anything? "Oh besides his biggest plays, he didn't play well."

Remember this guy is a true sophomore or second year player. Mettenberger, Flynn, etc. never saw a FBS field until their 4th or 5th year. He got wins versus Arkansas (came in when they were losing), Iowa, and 14th ranked Wisconsin. That's 2 come from behind wins in 3 games, a stat that Peyton Manning, Brett Farve, and the likes are revered for. Say what you want, when the chips are down, this guy can lead my team anytime!

Also, the Diarse TD was a good throw, but Diarse turned it into a long TD, but it shows up in Jennings stats.
Who elses' stats would they show up in? I mean every fricking QB ever has benefited from YAC.

They're called outliers
They are also called great plays. He throws the ball 21 times and you want to take away his best 2 and call them outliers; so ~10% of the population are considered outliers. Geez dude give me a break.

Harris was completely loss when he was on the field. Jennings is our QB.
to be fair he got 3 plays, and they were all busted. Jenning looked just as bad his first few series.
Jennings is getting the job done, but not looking good doing it.
9/21 238 yards isn't going to happen against an SEC secondary.

He missed his block on the reverse, just pointing that out... Im definitely not trying to say he played poorly and that was why he didn't play more, I am just saying that from very early on, every play was crucial, and didn't have the luxury to work a true fresh in. I won't be surprised if the entire season goes along like this.

Wisky has a better D than what we are giving them credit for, they are better than a few SEC teams we will face.

I will agree as to their front seven, but not their secondary. Thats why we needed to pass more.

He looked more at ease than Harris

Pretty simply put (7 pages into this thread), I'm not sure why we didnt air it out with both QB's from the first whistle bc of your point about their secondary. I mean we had success on well defended deep shots when we took them.
I think people expected this strategy, which is why they expected to see more of Harris, and for him to shine, as this is supposedly his strong suit. But IMO, Jennings shows some real nice touch on deep tosses.
Guys (not intended directly to you), were not going to lose Harris if he doesn't start every game; its better for everyone involved to bring him along until he is ready.

You've got to be kidding. Jorden Jefferson or Marcus Randall repeat. Jennings starting should tell you that Harris is not what most believe him to be.

Thursday I watched the Vanderbilt game. Rivers looked good with no line and no receivers. Now after watching that I assumed that these 2 quarterbacks would be great. Jennings was OK at times but other times he looked confused. I was thinking why does he keep throwing the ball deep. I just don't see it in him but hopefully he will prove me wrong
Troll much? Or are you really comparing Temple to Wisconsin?

quote:They were, but irrelevant. Dural and Diarse were running good routes last night, and Mett would have hit them.
Mettenberger playing at last year's level would have shredded that defense. He was at the point to where he would make his drop, plant and release the throw. That, in turn, would have opened up the run game.
Jennings didn't have two NFL WRs and an NFL running back to get the ball to. Beckham Jr and Landry were fricking legit.
I'm talking about the actual passing plays, not personnel, btw. Early on, Jennings took a lot of time making his reads. He did that last year, too- in case you forgot, the same line that Mett was (usually) ok with, Jennings took a lot of pressure against Iowa behind.
That said, Jennings seemed to start seeing things quicker, the common expression is the game slowed down for him. I'm confident that will continue to improve as he gains more experience and confidence. Cameron will develop him.

It was play calling.
Stop with this myth. Any play can be successful IF EXECUTED properly.
