Jennings looked good when he finally stopped competing with Harris and started competing with Wisconsin...

He was pretty good but you could tell he was prepared poorly. More bad QB coaching from our staff. We are the kings of bad quarterbacking in CFB.
can you provide some specific details in coming up with this assessment?

"Jennings 2nd Half", I enjoyed it. I do not want to give excuses for Harris' outing, but I do not believe that the O-Line did him any justice. Oh, well, first game is over with. Lets move on to the next game....

His high trajectory passes scare the bejeebers out of me. There's a time for touch passes, and it's not when your man is tightly covered deep downfield.

Care to elaborate?
Strong arm.
Accurate on the move
When he has time to throw, he makes the plays he needs
Confident

Yeah he didn't fold in adversity
Arguably one of the most important traits.

Stand corrected........first cup of coffee needed.
On the west coast now, sleep patterns screwed up.
Outnumbered at sports bar last night also but Cheese Heads were VERY quiet late in the fourth!!!

Jennings started slow, but the whole team started half asleep.
Play calling was part of the reason. Miles/Cameron called predictable plays trying to will the run game to work without establishing any passing threat for the Wisky LBs to respect in the first half.
Once the second half score/situation forced Miles/Cameron to open up the passing game, the whole offense opened up. It's typical Miles hard headed play calling, but the depth and ability of the LSU athletes win closely contested games for him after the opposition is worn down and beat up. If Miles/Cameron would have allowed Jennings to throw some high percentage passes and attacked the seams with the big fast WRs/TEs early, this game would have looked a lot different barring INTs... I guess it's the INTs that scare miles so much to keep it close then go for broke in the second half.
Jennings looked good in the second half, and I think once he realized the type of weapons he has in Diarse and Dural his confidence improved and he was making quicker decisions. As he starts to get a better feel for the offense, he could get really good. His timing and ability to process info will improve with some success.
Also, the LSU Oline was getting push on the UW Dline all night, but the LBs didn't respect the passing game allowing them to hit the RBs in the hole and on the Tiger's side of scrimmage. Once the LBs started to respect the pass, the running game was unstoppable. I wish LF could have gotten some more carries in the 4th quarter to let him experience more success, but Hilliard did well.

He moved the pocket and he resets very well. Nice +

The 3rd down play he was sacked was a pass play. His happy feet and panic got him sacked. Again, the OL sucked for three quarters
Happy feet? I am having a hard time remembering that exact play but I don't remember him trying to take off and run being the problem.

Some truth here...coaches fault for not managing the competition better.
AJ was Not a lights out HS player...if he weren't at LSU would likely Not Be in SEC.

He was the #6 dual threat in his recruiting class but we can just not worry about facts.
If you dont think jennings had a good game then you just dont like him.

I meant I wish they would have kept him in until he actually passed the ball.
Another series like the one he has and we lose the game. We didn't have the luxury to experiment. There is and never was a reason to force him.

AJ's first two games are against 2 BIg 10 teams in a bowl game and kickoff classic to start the season...basically trial by fire...
Last nite was a huge confidence builder for him IMO...

He reminded me of JJ in the first half. Despite the TD pass, it looked like he couldn't throw the ball in the same zip code the receivers were in.
Apparently though, the first half didn't faze the kid, and this is something I REALLY liked: no sulking, no "WTF" behavior ... the kid came out as though the score was 0-0; mentally he seemed to have put the shitty first half behind him. Gotta like that attitude.

quote:This was a damn tough game for anyone to step into. Wisconsin was crowding and keeping the pressure up. There was no Jeremy Hill to hand it to; our running backs consisted of a freshman who's adjusting to the speed of the game (Fournette), a smaller back who was getting chopped at the line (Magee), and a big guy who needs a couple steps to get moving (Hilliard). There was no established WRs like Beckham or Landry to throw to; Dural is the go-to guy by default because he's basically the only guy who'd been on the field before.

That was a baptism under fire, and Jennings emerged as the leader.
The offense will be fine, I think we have an identity now. Jennings will be the QB, Dural and Diarse will be the top 2 WRs, and Hilliard will be our primary back with Magee and Fournette getting time. We now have 3 much easier games to polish things up.
