Sorry

But this gold jersey thing and the general dislike of it makes me wonder why it works so well for baseball and basketball but is a dud for football. Is it mostly due to breach of tradition with our football uniforms or does it just genuinely not work aesthetically for football?

There are only 12-15ish games a year in football. Our regular uniforms are so nice that i think a lot of people would rather limit all the alternates. It’s like a sports wide thing right now. NFL teams wearing all kinds of different unis, NBA uniform matchups are all over the place. I think it adds to the burn pile of how cfb is changing to a lot of people. I remember everyone melting when we would go gold-purple-gold more than once in a season.

It is because our regular uniform is so iconic.

the general dislike

If this team weren’t underachieving and on a 3 game skid you wouldn’t have as much push back.

There are some that look at programs like Bama, Texas and Georgia and mostly see one helmet, one color pants and two jerseys and it’s synonymous with tradition that they want to remain with. Then you look at what LSU has done this season and the traditional uniform has been only worn 5-6 times. We’re one realtree helmet away from being Ole Miss.

My biggest gripe will always be the inability to match the stripes because of the jersey cut.

This.

Moscona has generally been getting on my nerves lately, but his rant about this nailed it.

LSU has one of the top 5 iconic uniforms in college football and they are pissing on it with all the alternate uniforms. Alabama, USC, Georgia, Ohio State, etc don't do this and neither should we.

If you want to wear purple jerseys once a year for the FCS body-bag game, then cool. Don't frick with your branding by doing 5 outfits a year.

Alternate Uniform BS is the kind of nonsense that should be reserved for out of conference games in Tiger Stadium!

This is just more "Watering down the Brand" that most fans don't like.

Show me all of the Alabama and Penn State alternate uniforms. .

ONCE AGAIN, PULL THIS ALTERNATE UNIFORM BS AGAINST Southwest Michigan Polytechnic Institute in Tiger Stadium.............

Not saying these are ugly, but these are “messing with tradition”

This is literally the same uniform template we’ve worn for the past 5+ years.

Eta: minus the L on the pants. All we’re doing is swapping the colors around.

don't forget the MLB "city connect" uniforms where a lot of MLB teams aren't even wearing their team's colors

LSU needs to spend less time on fashion design and more time fixing it’s coaching problems, defense and offense issues.

I am glad you didn't post the Padres one. It is awful.

Here it is, for the "pics not loading" crowd:

agreed. i'd even go as far as saying 1 purple jersey game, and 1 alt game on the road. maybe.

I don’t know man. Something tells me that the people coming up with schemes and the playbooks aren’t the same ones making the uniform designs.

What a clown take

I like it. But I prefer the purple instead of white at home too. I don’t like forced traditions like white at home or numbers either. Football is supposed to be fun and too many old people try to make rules. I saw Moscona had a rant about it the other day and he just sounded like an idiot.

I question it too. Its not like, say Oregon, where the uniforms are drastically different every game. They aren't doing black outs, etc.

All LSU is doing is changing up the color combos using the actual school colors "purple, gold, white" Logo is the same, stripes are the same, etc.

I'm late 40's and it doesn't bother me a bit. I more important shite to worry about.
