Another Clyde appreciation post

I know we've talked about his performance at Alabama quite a bit but I don't really care because he deserves all of the praise he can get. This play was absolutely unbelievable. Bama was on a 14-0 run and a 3rd down stop here would've given them all of the momentum. This play saved the drive and it ended in a TD. Play of the game in my mind.

This is possibly my favorite play in all of LSU football. In my opinion, Clyde’s performance in that Alabama game elevated Him to a different historical level.
I don’t care who complains about this being posted too many times. As far as I’m concerned you could start another thousand threads about it and I would click on all of them.

Lots of great plays in that game, but in my opinion, that was the most important (and most badass) play for us that night.

That is one great play in a chapter full of them by most players on that team in that incredible year.
Clyde rocked!

All I can see is Magee double team the DE instead of picking up the blitz.

He was all over the box score (as were the usual suspects, Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Moss, etc.) for the offense and special teams.
Recall his "up and over" TD with 27 seconds left in the first half was a third down play. He scored again 21 game seconds later with 6 to go in the half.
Even though they didn't result in scores, he extended drives in that early 2nd half timeframe that kept the ball out of Tua's hands.
Obviously the catch out of the backfield to convert the 3rd and 10 in the 4th quarter is one of the biggest offensive plays in the history of the LSU-Bama series.
He also had his spin move TD, his second (third?) effort TD and the big 1st down run to seal the win with a little over a minute to go.
Hard to imagine a bigger day against the hated Crimson Tide.

I love Clyde, especially for what he did in that game. That play and the spin move to score are two of my favorite plays all time.
But, it makes me nervous every time I watched that replay. I expect to see a flag come out for Chase not being set for a count before the ball is snapped.

That was an incredibly important drive and individual play. Alabama even with a banged up tua was the best team we played all year by far. Yea they had so me lucky plays (trick play on Stingley, punt return and hail Mary on Stingley) that made that game closer than it was but their quarterback who was also the second best QB in the country was banged up as well. We definitely dominated Alabama all game, but their were some critical moments in that game that guaranteed LSU a win, and this was one of them.

Folks need to remember that the main reason why the offensive line won the Joe Moore award was because of Joe Burrow and Joe Brady.

Dude wrecked Alabama that day. Absolutely abused their defense running and catching the ball.

If that's all you get out of that, you are truly a miserable f*ck. I feel sorry for your family.

Really? Yet Cushenberry, Lewis(possibly injured), and Charles all start in the NFL, Ingram was drafted in 2nd round, and Deculus should make the Texans. Joe Burrow and Joe Brady do not win a NC at Mo St etc. Team effort with a great leader and player at QB. But hey if it fits your narrative so be it. Just like LSU fans to take a positive post and turn it into a way to criticize the players.

My favorite will always be the play with about a minute left in the 4th, where he drug about 6 Alabama defenders for a first down to essentially end the game. I said to my husband, CEH just WILLED us to win that game. Clyde the Glide!!!

I can concede a team effort and that a legendary QB can make an offensive line look better, but those kids took on beastly DLs all year - Auburn, Bama, UGA and (yes, 19 and 20 year old OL will struggle at times) did what was necessary to get wins in those.

At the time, I told the people I was watching with that it was the play of the game.

I need to go rewatch this game now. What an instant classic. Our lone win too since our GotC win in 2011

At the end of the night I was ready to give Clyde the Heisman; he was by far the best player on the field that night by a wide margin.
