Only the purblind would consider Alabama's consecutive years at or very near the top in recruiting to be a "success begets success" story. From a statistical perspective, it is extremely unlikely that one team in all of CFB could have such success given all of the variables involved in the recruiting process. In other words, circumstantial evidence is the best kind.

The University of Alabama would literally do anything Saban told them to. The school literally exists only to have a football team.

CLE has always been a launching pad for coaches to check a square on their resume, bad analogy. Sagan sucked at MIA. Are you his fluffier.
When Belichick took over Cleveland, they were two years removed from playing in the AFC Championship. In fact, the Browns had played in 3 of the previous 5 AFC Championships, so they had some nice success. Belichick was fired after four losing seasons in five years. Pete Carroll was fired from New England in his first NFL stint. Saban did nothing special and nothing especially terrible in his two years. I think saying he was a quitter would be the most accurate thing to say.

Agreed. They sell the whole “business decision” angle to a kid, then sign three other 5 Star players at his position. No one ever seems to flip.

"If you had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country every year [you'd win like Nick Saban]," an anonymous coach told Chip Patterson of CBSSports.com. "He shows up at every single game with a better roster than the teams he's playing."
"If you count cheating and getting the best players in the country as part of running a program, he's the best in the country," the coach added. "It's like saying an NFL coach is the best coach in the league if he gets 25 first-round picks every year."
Hey Dabo.

Saban is the best college coach ever for whatever reason (legal or not). However, in the NFL, virtually EVERYTHING is geared toward parity, and you seperate the men from the boys and find out who can TRULY coach football. Saban was mediocre at best with the big boys, realized this, and returned to the arena he could dominate. You don't truly find out how great of a coach you are until you coach in the NFL. That's why a lot of top college coaches take that challenge.

Exactly. The only viable explanation for the lack of flipping is that the families are "taken care of" a la Tua's family moving to Alafreakingbama from Hawaii.
None of this stuff stirs the slightest concern under the watchful eyes of the SEC or the NCAA.
As Da Vinci said, there are three kinds of people:
1. Those who see
2. Those who see when shown
3. Those who do not see
The great majority reside in category #3.

Oh come on, We just need to get back on track and beat them a few times. All will go back to normal.

Article is right, it's about the players(recruits). Last year CFB coaches voted Saban as the most over rated Coach in CFB. which on First Take they blasted the report but look at the facts, EVEN LES MILES won a Championship with Saban recruits!

Kind of reads like Dan Mullen in some way

Not saying his program is pure as the virgin snow, but until someone comes up with something tangible to back this notion of rampant cheating, a statement like this is slanderous.

I question whether our's do based on the BOS, President, AD, and HC.
Our fanbase has exactly zero say on who our BOS, President, or AD is and extremely limited imput on who should be the head coach. The governor appoints his stooges to the BOS, who hires the President, who hires the AD while meddling in the coaching searches the AD is supposed to be tasked with running.

They all detest Saban. He's made the stakes so high very few can keep up.

This and has reached such status at a storied program that makes him and that program untouchable by the media and NCAA.
Won't last forever. These things go in cycles. Emmert has to be taken care of. A scandal can get him out or politics can force him out. He is the grand master protector of the Evil Crimson Empire.

Saban does not out and out cheat. He has become the best at manipulating the system or being in the vanguard. For instance he has 10 "analysts" on staff to assist in game preparation and whatever duties they are assigned. No one else is doing that. Legal? apparently so or the number was never officially set so he hires as many as he wants. Of course, the univiersity is complicit in allowing him the latitude to spend waht is needed. Some schools could not afford even a couple of analysts.
You can bet those analysts perform some levels of coaching which might not be allowed but would be hard to detect.
Saban is also tolerant of allowing law breakers to remain eligible or conveniently have suspensions for easily winnable games and be reinsstated for toughe ropponents.
You can bet he influenced the Cam Robionson / Hootie Jones farce with the Ouachita District attorney. If SAban needs them they find a way to keep them eligible and the school powers allow him unfettered authority.
Do you think the Honey Badger would have missed the 2012 season if he was at Alabama with similar circumstances. You can fault Miles for some things, but the well being of his players came first. I don't believe the same can always be said for Saban. Again, legal , yes, but pushing the envelope.
Saban uses his contacts with handlers to assist in recruiting , the " barber shop " in Amite being a prime example. Is there any illegal recruiting associated with this? Maybe, but it has been allowed. The feckless NCAA won't investigate.
Notice how recruits families from outer state suddenly relocate to the Tuscaloosa area, some from as far away as Hawaii. Legal? Guess so. Undoubtedly the dream of every Hawaiian is to leave paradise for the hills of Alabama.
Something went on at the end with the recruitment of Patrick Surtain that involved his father. It may not be readily apparent yet, and may be difficult to confirm but Surtain's heart was always with LSU despite his rhetoric on signing day. The father will receive some type of benefit which might be illegal or borderline illegal but not clearly so to warrant sanctions
Some might be sour grapes, some envy that he is allowed to get way with far more than other coaches and programs. If true, we can all hope the house of cards comes tumbling down as it has with Florida football, Louisville and North Carolina basketball among others.
Motherfrickin THIS!!! Someone gets it. Saban isnt an elite coach, he is an elite politician. Bending rules, creating new ones, finding loop holes, securing teams...
He stock piles broken coaches to have them in waiting, he uses back channeling to wade through NCAA rules or even state legislation like with Cam/Hootie, his bagmen strongholds in and out of state alike provide the best players, and coaching on the field comes last.
He is vastly over rated as an on the field coach - great defensive mind - yes, great technique and attention to detail - yes, etc.
That said, he has the best players and keeps them out of trouble, and has them paid to stay their senior years because he hates failure. He knows if he had to play on an even field a la the NFL via Miami, he's a 7-7 average coach
