I couldn't believe they hired the guy after the Duke fiasco.

Yeah, our athletic department has gone to complete shite since he's taken over.

I'm not saying the guy is Jeremy Foley, but he does a better job than probably 80% of the AD's in the NCAA, and has done far more for the program than Bertman ever did. Most of the people who loathe Alleva just happen to be the ones who don't want to spend a penny on mid-major sports, yet bitch and moan when Alabama, UGA, and Florida are bringing in the hardware. He's trying to fix that and is doing a damn good job, all while running a clean program.

Because he comes off as a complete and utter buffoon. He does A&M a favor, but fails to ask for anything in return? What a pile of dogshit. Why do we need to bow to their demands?

Didn't he make it clear that we were not interested in a thanksgiving day game at home. Also made sure we had a bye week.

Not sure how telling a&m we're not moving OUR home game is any favor to us.

I hope LSU did not agree to this long term...what about years there are NOT 2 bye weeks ??????????
What did TAM GIVE LSU in return ? Do I smell our friends in the SEC office.
ONLY way I agree to this is if the SEC backs us up and calls for a guaranteed Sat. nite return game.

I loathe Alleva and also see the value on non-revenue sports.

Does it mean every other year after 2014 our bye week will be the 2nd to last week of the regular season? Because that's awful.

A bye week going into the last game of the season outside the SEC championship against a team that traditionally has not been a major playor. Makes perfect sense.

Not really. In years where you only have 1 bye week we would have to play 11 straight weeks without a bye. 11 straight games isn't necessarily a recipe for keeping your team healthy.

You just made my point, we will wind up being stuck with the Thanksgiving game and have nothing permanent in return and only next years bye week.

Yep. The only way he can mitigate this disaster is to find a way for us to get out of playing on Black Friday when we get A&M at home. It's not likely though, since CBS would have to approve moving the game to Saturday night.

Like I said, "most", not "all". And I am not happy about the Thanksgiving game myself, just pointing out the man isn't half as bad as so many of you think he his. Could we do a little better? maybe, but we could also do a lot worse

I don't think he's terrible necessarily. The facility upgrades under his watch were absolutely necessary and have been a boon to a lot of the sports on campus.

This particular circumstance, however, reminds of when he trumpeted the successful negotiation of the guaranteed Bama night game in 12 as the return favor for moving the 2011 game to primetime for CBS. Anyone with half a brain knew that CBS was going to pick that game as the night game double header anyway. Its just insulting.

Thanksgiving at aTm sucks because its the closest school in the conference to BR, and would have been a very popular road trip annually, that no one will ever go to now. Only affects a small portion of the fanbase, but its just kinda lame.
