You better look up Tasmin stats in college and I seen him play he was solid

Tasmin would actually be a perfect fit with that bunch of ball hogs if we were building a real team. Unselfish team player that would make any team better.

Need to add a little more info to the question.

Are we talking about their skill set just while they're at LSU or how good they ended up being throughout their career? There is a BIG DIFFERENCE with a few guys, like SHAQ, CJ, Glenn Davis etc.

Big Bob has to be the 4, and I don't see any way that can be questioned. Move Simmons to the 3 if you want to keep him, Jackson and Pistol shoot plenty well to make it all work

I think 4 cannot be argued:
Shaq
Pettit
Pistol
Jackson

With those guards you pretty much have to have a SF who is a lock down defender. Don't bash me too much but someone like Garrett Temple would make that lineup better than almost any other player that has ever gone to LSU. You don't need a scorer at that point but you do need someone to play D on scorers who aren't bigs.

good luck beating that. Duke, UNC, UK, and UCLA would be the only schools i can think of with a shot.

It is actually incredible how much basketball history LSU quietly has.

How has there been no mention of Glover Jackson on the list?

It revs up every now and again. LSU is top 4 in SEC history. Basketball is LSU's pastime. Well before Saban and before skip, LSU had some outstanding runs in basketball. John Brady brought some of it back, but it's been lost for over a decade now.

The day of reckoning is here!

PF-Stromile Swift

Stromile Swift is a very underrated player in LSU history. I'd argue that he is the best big man in LSU history behind Shaq.

Swift - 16.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.8 bpg (SEC POY, 2md team NCAA All-American)

Bass - 17.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 1.6 bpg (SEC POY)

Davis - 18.6, 9.7 rpg, 1.1 bpg (SEC POY)

The answer to this question is always "it depends." If the objective is to put together a team against other all-time teams to play in a tournament, it seems like one needs to account for size, strength and athleticism. The inclusion of Bob Pettit is always difficult because of his size and relative athleticism in college compared to current players. He'd probably be a role player coming off the bench to match up, for example, against a Bill Walton.

If we are looking to defeat other teams, I think our toughest starting 5 would be:

C-Shaq (7'1")
PF/C - Stanley Roberts (7'0")
SF - Ben Simmons (6'10")
SG - Pete Maravich (6'5")
PG - Chris Jackson (5'11")

Guys coming off the bench:
Bob Pettit (PF, 6'9"), Rudy Macklin (SF, 6'7"), Marcus Thornton (SG, 6'3"), Randy Livingston (PG, mythical injury-free,6'4"), Dewayne Scales (PF, 6'9"), Stromile Swift (PF, 6'10"), Jevonte Smart (PG/SG, 6'4"), Don Redden (SF, 6'6").

I realized I left Jerry Reynolds off. Just for his athleticism and versatility alone (he played 4 positions while at LSU) he should be considered. If I'm trying to have depth at every position, I might substitute him for either Smart, Redden, or Thornton, assuming I can only select 13 guys.

Agreed. Thanks. I realize I was putting the double T at the end rather than the middle. He was great player and it's an honor to have him as part of LSU's history.

Man, I left off John Williams, too. He was too good (poor man's Lebron) to be kept off. Put him in somewhere.

I also realize there are a lot of solid guys not on the team - Big Baby, Bass, Blanton, Ethan Martin, Howard Carter, Tyrus Thomas, Tasmin Mitchell, and some defensive aces like the G. Temple, Oliver Brown, B. Woodside. Lots of guys to make an assortment of great teams.
