Neither is Pete Maravich. He also didn't graduate; in fact, he got kicked out of school.

JB has always refused to come back to any alumni functions & from too many different sources to discount, has a strong hate for Skip & LSU. There are a lot of stories out there of LSU fans running across him, wearing LSU gear, saying hello and his replies were always coarse & vulgar. He may have been a great guy in h.school, but this is the only time I've heard that about him. Several friends in the S.port area have always claimed both he & his mother were extremely racist; his brother, on the other hand, no where near anything like that. Getting kicked off the team, deservedly so, when he did, was a major blow to that team's chances in Omaha. Frick him.

No, he might have had the best MLB career, but he was not the best player at LSU. I would put both Todd Walker, Ben McDonald, and Eddie Furniss above him. Those 3 are in the college baseball hall of fame.

Are you talking about best former lsu player in mlb? I would say Albert would be up there. Albert was a great player n I mean great but Ben was in a class by himself. Unfortunately he was damaged goods by the time he got to pro baseball. There was no question who the number 1 player in the country was in that era.

That's all I'm saying. Out of every baseball player to play at LSU, Albert Belle had without question the best Major league baseball career. period

Yea, I should've clarified. He had one of the best five or so college careers at LSU but as far as best player to ever play for LSU, I would have to say that he was because he became, in the majors, the best LSU has ever produced.

and not to mention he sued LSU too. That's still not sitting well.

There may not be a former athlete out there who hates LSU more than Albert Belle.

I challenge you to find anyone who went to HHS from 80-84 who will say that about him. He was the most popular guy in a school that was about 70% white at the time and his popularity was only partially due to his athletic accomplishments. He was somewhat quiet but very well liked. Terry was also very cool and well liked. He was more outgoing than Joey but equally as popular.

Is there any mention of him in the Baseball HOF at the Box? I cant remember.

I feel like I remember seeing a Joey Belle plaque on the fence posts surrounding the stadium. I know you don't have to graduate to get one of those.

Someone may have more accurate details, but as I recall a fan in Starkvegas dropped an N bomb on him while warming up in the outfield. My recollection is that he threw the ball at the fan and hit him with it.

There is little question about the best baseball player to grace the diamond at LSU. He arrived at Alex Box Stadium 30 years ago from Huntington High School in Shreveport

I thought Ben McDonald went to Denham Springs High.

Actually, Todd Walker went to Airline HS in the Bossier/Shreveport area.

It was at Georgia in the SEC tournament. The fan was the MSU bus driver. Belle ran toward the loudmouth, but was stopped by other players.

It wouldn't bother me if he never stepped foot on campus again. He was an embarrassment.
