Yeah I just heard that he is being given most of the credit for the recent recruiting classes including the #1 class last year. So they would want him to stay and recruit.

Dunn, Cain, and Smith all have to go. Time for new blood.

Crews, Morgan, Edwards, Floyd, Coleman, aren’t good enough to be here? Those are Cain’s kids! He got them here.

WTF? They lost in a Super Regional today. They signed the #1 class last year and then #3 class right now and need to clean house?

Our recruiting suffered when Paul went small ball recruiting. Cain can recruit. I have no issue with him being retained. Dunn’s a good coach but it’s time to make that change. I’m glad Hill, our so called hitting coach, got a job and is moving one. He was ??

I know there’s talk that the admin wants Nolan Cain to stay no matter who is hired.

This sounds like something the rant made up and a few people ran with.

I'm not all that impressed with his recruiting. We have huge holes on that roster.
He’s pretty good. The current freshmen class were going into their sophomore year of high school when he got the job and with the absurdity of recruiting these days that’s really the results of his first full cycle. And the next two appear to be in line with the last one. I think the holes are largely due to the unwillingness to go the transfer route, and I think that’s more Mainieri than Cain.

With that said, you can’t really have a recruiter as one of the two assistants, they need to specialize in hitting and pitching. Cain could still play a role from the admin side in organizing the board and identifying the right kind of players.

With a new coaching regime coming in I’m sure they will want to hire their own coaching staff. Maybe Cain stays because he’s a good recruiter. Dunn should have been gone long ago.

If Cain stays on, move him to the non-paid assistant position and get a hitting coach who can actually teach hitting!

Any coach worth having is going to bring in his own staff.

The new coach will be able to hire whoever he wants. Will be his decision to retain anyone if he wants to.

May be less to do with Cain's ability to evaluate and recruit talent rather than LSU's ability to develop talent. Him in an admin position makes sense to me not an assistant role because he can't develop.

My 12 yr old coach taught me how to throw a curveball something Alan Dunn has been unable to teach to kids that pitch their entire lives at high levels

No one is being retained by LSU. All hires are up to the new HC.

You’d think that, but no.

#1 recruiting class in 2020, all recruited by Cain.

Not a problem with talent. A talent development problem for the past 14 years.
