re: After 2.5 seasons, can anyone really envision Kelly fielding a NC team?

No, but which coach should we have to make out next NC a reality?

Baker is not the problem. Nuss’ cowboy shite and Sloan’s running scheme are.

yep hes recruiting some beasts

He had a NC caliber team last year he just totally wiffed on all his defensive staff hires. He fixed that mistake but unfortunately we don't have the same caliber of offense.
As others have mentioned the Underwood years will be Kelly's best chance to win a NC here. What's giving me hope is how well they develop Jayden it's night and day from when he first got to LSU and the player he developed into. And Underwood has the tools to be that caliber of QB you need to complete for a championship.

We have a lot of beasts on the roster that haven't come close to playing to their high ranking, so pardon me for not jumping up and down.

Not if we stick with Joe Sloan as OC.
Pair him with a Running Game Coordinator analyst to help him. Someone who really knows how to get creative from shotgun sets. There are lots of former OCs out there in need of career rehab. This isn’t rocket science.

Yes. We are farther along than I ever expected after the final two years of Orgeron.

You can envision us being better than UGA, Bama, ATM, UT, Oregon and Ohio state all in the same year with this soft arse limited offense. Underwood would have to be Jayden and we'd need 2 first round WRs at the same time. I just can't see it

But Kelly wants to run Kelly's offense, he said that's what he did at ND no matter the OC, thats why he promoted OCs from within. It's why he brought Denbrock in and promoted Sloan. He's never gone outside his house to get an OC

Several O recruits/transfers. Ryan, Burns, Emery, and Guillory. All 4 and 5 stars and none came close to reaching their potential under either staff. But O still recruited them all.

We Will N…E…V…E…R…sniff a Natty with Kelly!

We aren’t running the same offense as last year and especially the year before under Denbrock. Almost no 12 personnel (a Kelly staple). The sets are different. Most of the tight sets are gone and Denbrock ran the hell out of them. The routes are different. Denbrock hardly ran RPO and Sloan runs it all the time.
You are a casual who doesn’t know what he’s looking at.

We're replacing the entire O-line and at least our top receiver and TE next season. Good luck.
Our O line is good with pass protection, and pretty bad with run blocking. We'll be fine. We thought the D Line would be weak as shite this season, it's probably the best unit we have. Same thing can happen with the O line.
As for TE, you probably see Green move back over.

Has he ever won a Natty? Well there's your answer.
Posted on 10/26/24 at 11:46 pm to ForTheWin81
Nope. He will never take us to the promised land. People love to bash Orgeron but he fielded the greatest LSU team in history. I don’t see Kelly doing that. His ceiling is 9 regular season wins.

Our OL is good with pass protection because we have two first round picks at OT. Both will be gone next year with no clear replacements that have any experience.
