He doesn’t address the horrible inconsistency in how the fumble/incompletion was handled. The refs let a play go on a blatently obvious incompletion and fixed it on review in the first half. The same logic should have been applied here. Let the play go on, and verify on review. The ONLY thing he says is that there wasn’t enough to overturn in his opinion. If they handle the play the same both way, it likely wouldn’t had been overturned as an INT, either.

That in-game inconsistency was on display with the last two PI calls on each team. They had been playing physical all game, and the refs decided to change tactics in OT. That’s the same shite that pisses people off about the NBA and it’s officiating.

It’s a live ball so on fumble recoveries why can’t you just kneel with the ball?

too many men in backfield in that case. Has to be 7 on the line, only 4 in backfield.
My point is that he says there wouldn't have been a runoff anyway, since it didn't occur during a clock stopage.

Mond’s knee being down was never up for debate. He never possess the ball with his knee down. He just has 3 fingers on the nose of the ball then his knee comes up and he picks up the ball.

If I'm not mistaken, you only need to touch the ball at that point. You don't need full possession.

My problem is the lack of call by the on-field refs. If that's anything but a game ending INT then they get a pass on the play and at worst get to try again without losing yardage.

My problem with this is the clock would have kept running if they called him down . They had receivers 20 yards downfield and no time outs so that would have run another 15 seconds off the clock at least before they could get another play off

I think the worst call was stopping play for nothing on a play that we blew up in the back field

This is one of the worst and nobody mentions it.

And they would not have time to call a legit play. The worst play of the game for A&M benefited them.

So the anti LSU conspiracy on that play involved the line judge throwing a flag on A&M that wasn’t correct?

Forget conspiracy. The problem is incompetence.

And what did review have to say about it?

Oh, it wasn't even close enough to bother reviewing. That's according to the head of crew who told Orgeron not to bother calling a timeout.

Yep. Would have been chaos that it was essentially a sack that none of the players would have realized occurred. They got a time out out of it.

A sack would have taken more than 10 seconds. They caught a break here and a few afterwards.

There is no such rule as too many men on the line, but you must have at least 7 with at least 5 on the line numbered 50-79.

would have had to throw to the endzone from much further out. Pretty much a hail mary, at best. May have ended the game.

My point being since they did not call it on the field not only did the above not happen, but LSU comes out bad in ANY scenario after that.

1. not called, incomplete- no review because there's nothing to review (the INT), clock stops, they have 4 or more plays to go.

2. not called, complete- no review because there's nothing to review (the INT), first down, clock stops temporarily, they have 3 or more plays to go.

3. not called, INT- review due to change of possession, get the ball back with stopped clock.

Mond was merely touching the ball when his knee was down. He never possessed it.

People are explaining this wrong. It is not that he ball was down when he touched it, it is because he touched it when he was down AND THEN possessed the ball that he is considered down where he first touched. Or at least that's my understanding. If he had not possessed the ball, it was still be a live ball.

It's amazing to me that the refs allowed a ball that was thrown to an LSU WR and clearly hit the ground to be run back by an aTm defender like it was a touchdown, but ruled an incomplete pass on a play that should have ended the game.

This 1000x. The official are supposed to have been trained to let a play go if any doubt and review it later to make sure it’s right.

Refs rarely call out other refs. It's what makes these in game commentaries by former officials completely pointless.

No honest, non-conflicted person could watch last night's game and say all but one call was fine.

I'm not a knee jerk guy. And whether or not bias was involved is a separate issue. The second put back on the clock was bogus. The illegal formation was missed. The fumble was missed, multiple false starts were missed, an obvious offsides was missed and another bang bang play was ruled targeting on us.

It was bad, period.
