2019 - Joe Burrow - 94.9 (Year 2)

2023 - Jayden Daniels - 95.7 (Year 2)
2024 - Garrett Nussmeier - 79.0 (Year 1)
hopefully we see a JB or JD type year 1 -> year 2 bump and not an Etling year 1->year 2 bump.

Nuss doesn’t have 2 first round WRs on the roster that JD and JB had though. Need to do some damage in the portal there if Daniels isn’t coming back

2012 - Zach Mettenberger - 51.0 (Year 1)
2013 - Zach Mettenberger - 86.8 (Year 2)
2014 - Anthony Jennings - 46.1
2015 - Brandon Harris - 68.2
damn the QB dark ages for LSU outside of that season from Mettenberger

My years at LSU

What’s interesting is Jefferson was the only QB that didn’t dramatically improve his second year.

Not necessarily defending JJ9 but to qoute Les.. "only 3 things happen when you pass the ball and two of them are bad..."

Also Gary Crowton OC

Also JJ9 was impressed early in his career into duty so that could have something to do with it. All the others with a year 2 were at the end of their careers.

Jefferson only QB to go backwards in year 2.

Burrow and Daniels both had exceptional, 1st round level NFL talent at WR in their second year. (Technically they were there in year 1 too)

Who is Nuss throwing to next year that can dominate DBs on routes, get separation, and win 50/50 balls?

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. It's a valid point. We are very average at the receiver position right now, at least as far as LSU standards.

It wasn’t supposed to be. Ryan Perriloux was the greatest high school quarterback I’ve ever seen. Then Zack Lee was actually on campus taking classes and the Dodgers were like school ain’t really for you, bud. Les Miles era could have been viewed differently had those two had the careers we dreamed of.

Just as I remembered. Outside of 2013, the time between Matt Flynn and Danny Etling was the absolute dark ages as far as QB play was concerned.
I was starting to believe I would never see competent QB play at LSU ever again.

Burrow turned it around in the bowl game versus UCF.

Burrow turned it around against Rice in game 11.

Nuss turned it around against Vandy in game 11.

I was always team JD5, but I still couldn’t believe it in year two when my opinion became he threw a prettier and more accurate deep ball than Burrow.

From stories I’ve heard, Jayden was the hardest working, most committed to being great of any of the QBs on that list and that’s not a knock on any of the others. He definitely has a lifelong fan in me.

JD5 had flashes of greatness in 2022. Burrow same in 2018 esp after hit in UCF game. Nuss hasn't done that yet.

Lmfao. What sort of drugs are some of you idiots taking? Nuss showed way more glimpses this year than Daniels ever did in year 1.

Sure seemed like he looked way better the last 2 weeks of the season to me.

If Nuss can have a Mettenberger type of senior year we will be good

If he is better than that we will be really good

A lot of our success depends on who we get in the portal and which young guys step up

Etling was by far the most underrated QB

Unfortunately Etling will always be remembered for his horrible passes to wide-open WRs versus Bama. I still wake up in cold sweats over those

I made a chart of the data and added win totals for each year

I would argue last game
COULD be the turning moment.
