2 different sports = 2 different records

PM's shots and determine which ones would've been considered 3 point shots.
Here you go:

Pete Maravich was ahead of his time. According to sources, he was making 13 three-pointers a game before the 3-point line existed, he would have averaged 57 points per game with it.

2 different basketballs also. Anyone who compares it you shouldn’t allow them to talk sports ever again.

Here's the real question: Who would you rather watch play a basketball game? End of story..... and for the record Pistol Pete was my idol on the basketball court growing up. Everyone likes to talk points but he was a magician w the basketball in his hands. Incredible entertainment. We all have heard the stories where the crowds were packed for the freshman game and then everyone would leave b/f the varsity took the court when Pete was a freshman. It's true!

If you put her in front of Pete, you have to put all men above women's records. While you are at it, combine baseball and softball stats. Track and field, gymnastics, swimming, etc.

And combine rec ball league stats also if you are comparing women’s basketball to men’s

Just as good a person as his game was, his wife was awesome

She only played against girls, so the whole comparison is fricking stupid.

You can talk all you want about the number of shots, but he also had three or four people hanging off his arse. He also played when there was no shot clock. He also way more points if you add in the shots that would’ve been three-pointers. It’s apples and oranges. And I do think you count his freshman year stats because they were score while he was in college. Doesn’t matter who he scored him against. Rules or rules.

100% agree. You cannot compare the two because it doesn’t matter who he was playing against while he was at LSU. He still made all those shots. To compare to to change all of Clark’s three-pointers to 2 pointers and see how many points she scores or track all of Pete’s 3’s. That’s the only fair comparison.

Dale Brown on Pistol Pete:
“If there was a 3-point line, I think he (would have had) nine points more per game just by the shots he took where he took them," Brown said, referencing a study on Maravich's shot distribution from former LSU reporter at The Advocate Sam King. "... And if he would have known there was a 3-point shot, or if there was a shot clock that would have sped things up, his record would have been totally impossible (to break). Houdini couldn't break his record."
Maravich also accomplished both feats without ever playing in an NCAA Tournament game – the field was significantly smaller in those days – or in an SEC Tournament game, as that event didn't exist when he played. Maravich did play in the NIT as a senior, but he also participated in fewer regular-season games (26) than what modern college teams play today.

Arent they claiming the most points scored in college?
Did Pete play in college his Freshman year?
He played against Freshmen, but she played against girls.

WBB uses a smaller ball, and there was no shot clock so opponents held the ball to keep it from Pete!!

Need to factor in the 3 point line. Pete never hit a shot behind the arc.
