mondo is the usain of pole vault.

***edit: didnt realize there was such a prominent anti-mondo sentiment out there. Of course im aware he is a swedish medalist, and that doesn’t matter to me at all.

In the sense that he plays sports for another country, I agree

Would he be standing on a second place podium?

I've been saying for three years now that he is the fourth member of LSU's Mt Rushmore along with Pete, Shaq and Joe...forget about it.

No human deserves a statue. It’s a weird way to honor people.

What are we going to do with all the other LSU gold medalist

And alot of those gold medalist actually won NCAAs while here

Mr. Slats says hold my American balls mondo

Glen “Slats” Hardin

quote:

Hardin was unbeatable between the 1932 and 1936 Olympics, winning the AAU title in 1933, 1934 and 1936 in 400 m hurdles and NCAA championships title in 1933 and 1934 in 440 yd (400 m) hurdles. Hardin finished his career at the Berlin Olympics, beating John Loaring from Canada by 0.3 seconds.

quote:

Hardin was a member of the LSU Tigers outdoor track and field team that won the school's first ever NCAA Championship in 1933.] He won two NCAA individual titles during the meet.[]

His world record also stood for 19 years.

Make this your statue for him

Dude

He was here one year and didn’t even win NCAAs

Putting him on our Rushmore is taking a quantum leap over the shark

Not true. He won the NCAA indoor pole vault in 2019.

He was second in the outdoors that year.

I love mondo but he was at LSU for a single year not to mention the track program deserves so much better for facilities to prioritize a statue.

If he made a fortune and donated to LSU, we should be all for it happy he’s a tiger but LSU track has a long history of great athletes and people that do not have statues. He did win an NCAA individual title but Xavier Carter won 4 in a single day. Baw is a thug but he’s Jesse Owens level goat. Muna Lee won 7 individual national titles and I believe two team titles. There are others around the program statue worthy.

Would you inscribe the statue in English or his preferred language of Swedish?

Remind me again how many nattys Shaq and Pete won...

Sometimes individual greatness outshines the team's performance.

Shaq was transcendent, even though the team didn't win.
Pete was phenomenal, even though the team didn't win.
Mondo reaches that same rarified air. Literally.

This is a valid point.

The whole Swedish issue is irrelevant to any LSU discussion.
