Title and responsibility standpoint didn't work out for him w/ the #Vols but am told it was very amicable and that it was just not the right fit and timing.

Thomas was very valuable based on what he did. It would have sucked having to find someone else to take over what his role was. What he did, however, is replicatable with any number of persons.

Any number of people can fill that role and deliver a top-notch blue chip athlete as well?

Jacoby Stevens

From an Advocate article on JaCoby Stevens and family:

"But this is no Tennessee guy.

“I consider myself a Louisianan,” Stevens said. “People ask me that all of the time — Louisiana or Tennessee? I was born in Tennessee, but I have Louisiana blood flowing through my veins. If you ask me, I’ll always claim Crowley, Louisiana.”

The Stevens family, as you might imagine, is from Louisiana. And, now, they’re all back together here in the state, reunited after Stevens’ parents and sister moved with him to Baton Rouge in December.

When he enrolled early at LSU, Jeremy and Dionne Stevens and their daughter, Janai’, moved here as well, returning to the place where it all began and where the rest of their family resides — an uncle in Baton Rouge, aunts and cousins in Bogalusa and grandparents in Crowley, Jeremy and Dionne’s hometown.

“It’s kind of been surreal,” Jeremy Stevens, JaCoby’s dad, said. “For the first couple of weeks, I’m like, ‘Man, we’re back in Louisiana.’ Seeing family and friends and the weather… I’m like, ‘Damn, we’re in Louisiana!’”"

"And, now, they’re all back together, right here in Louisiana, where it all began, where JaCoby fell in love with the Purple and Gold.

It happened while 4-year-old JaCoby visited the cage of Mike the Tiger. The family returned each summer to visit family. JaCoby always knew what that meant.

“He had to see Mike the Tiger," Jeremy said, "before we left Louisiana.""

Jacoby was primarily recruited by Corey Raymond and Phillips by Aranda. AT didn't solely bring any one recruit in by himself. He's mythical to these clowns on the rant that don't even know what his role is in the program. I'm pretty sure AT isn't allowed the same recruiting schedule on the road as coaches anyway if I'm not mistaken

He went to his alma mater and home state to be near family

Perhaps you didn't read the article which specifically dampens that motive.

He was allowed to recruit as a coach in place of Jenkins. And according to 247 he was the tenth best recruiter in the nation last year.

And for some reason he's credited with 1 three star and this Director of Player Personnel is the best recruiter of all the coaches we have. I'm not buying it

So does all this mean that Thomas has de-committed and re-opened his recruitment?

There isn't a head coach anywhere that would agree to those terms. And rightfully so.

Staff Management? What staff are we referring to here?

Pretty sure I remember him being credited for getting Jacoby here. Something about him going and watching him practice or scrimmage. Coaches from other schools were there watching jacoby as well and all were ready to leave but didn't want to be the first to leave. Believe they all left at the same time while AT stayed behind. He stayed the whole time and ended up getting a word in with Stevens while the others did not. Meant a lot to Stevens that he stayed behind. Thats the story I remember reading on here at least..

This is where I am. The man may be really good at what he does, and his myth/legend is even greater. However, how many times do you need to see his desire to move?

I get wanting to better yourself by improving status and salary. And I get wanting to move “home.”

But fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...
