The Baton Rouge Saints. I kinda like it.
The incorporation of the 4 team playoff system has made any other bowl game obsolete and unnecessary. They need to take it to at least an 8 team playoff system to make more of these games relevant again. If not you will continue to see the best players elect not to play in inconsequential bowl games. The NCAA caused this issue and has yet to correct it. The pressure is being inappropriately applied to Greedy Williams when it should be on the NCAA.

The question is how does Ensminger's offense look next year with a healthy/more experienced offensive line. We will have an upgrade at RB and our WR should get better. The future looks good to me. :geauxtigers:

Next Year's Team

Posted by 1luckyguy on 12/4/18 at 10:43 am
Looking at next years team and we should have upper classmen starting at most positions on both Offense and Defense.

QB: Burrow will be a SR
RB: Fournette will be a SR, Edwards-Helaire a JR, One of the five start RB's might take the position.
WR: 4 Seniors (Giles, Dillon, Anderson, and Sullivan) also Jefferson a JR. Marshall and Chase will be Sophomores.
TE: Pettigrew and Moss will either be RSSO or JR's.
OL: Traore, Lewis, and Magee are Seniors. Deculus, Charles, and Campbell are JR's. Hines will be a SO. Cushenberry will be a JR.

DL: Lawerence, Alexander, and Fehoko will be SR's. Logan and Farrell will be JR's. Shelvin will be SO.
LB: Queen and Phillips will be JR's
OLB: Divinity will be as SR. Chaisson RSSO or JR.
S: Delpit, Harris, Lewis, Monroe, and Stevens will be JR's
CB: Fulton will be a SR. Vincent, Kirklin, and Netherly are JR's. Joseph will be SO (might move back to safety). I believe Stingley will start opposite of Fulton as a true freshman.

Overall, I think every defensive position but one (CB) will have an upperclassman starting.

RB and WR could have underclassman starting and in all reality these were the two positions along with the OL that underperformed most of the year. OL should be better and have more experienced depth.

LSU will have the talent to compete with anyone. Orgeron has to make sure that the offense improves. Defense should be just as good.

I read somewhere where Willis told Lanard that the only reason he was here was because of his brother and that got it going.

If the comment about Lanard is true, that could have been the reason for him starting. And then Curry being from south Florida might be the reason for the early touches.
Probably won't happen because state politics want their big in state schools to play the smaller schools to help pay some bills.

I would love to watch that schedule though!

Great Pick! And Great Value!
Hope they understand that just because you might have first round talent doesn’t mean you will go first round. Guice and Key should have said or done a lot of things differently. Possibly another year in college to grow up would have done these guys some good.

Value of the Trade

Posted by 1luckyguy on 4/27/18 at 3:29 pm
I am going to lay this out in three scenarios based off of a standard NFL Draft Trade Chart: Best Case, Worse Case, and Most Probable.

Best Case:
Pick 14 = 1,100 Trade Value (Received By the Saints)

Pick 27 = 680
Pick 147 = 32
Pick 32 (Next Year) = 590
TOTAL = 1,302 Trade Value (Received By the Packers)

Difference is 202 points in favor of the Packers. So, even in the best case scenario where we win the Super Bowl and the Packers select last pick of the first round of next years draft we are still upside down on this trade. But who cares we won the Super Bowl!

Worst Case:
Pick 14 = 1,100 Trade Value (Received By the Saints)

Pick 27 = 680
Pick 147 = 32
Pick 1 (Next Year) = 3000
TOTAL = 3,702 Trade Value (Received By the Packers)

Difference is 2,612 points in favor of the Packers.
If the wheel falls off and we end up with the worst record in the league, which is highly unlikely, but a possibility. Then it will take a long time to recover from this trade scenario.

Most Probable:
The most probable scenario is one where we make the playoffs. So, lets assume we make it but are put out in the first round. That would put the draft pick at 21.

Pick 14 = 1,100 Trade Value (Received By the Saints)

Pick 27 = 680
Pick 147 = 32
Pick 21 (Next Year) = 800
TOTAL = 1,512 Trade Value (Received By the Packers)

Difference is 412 points in favor of the Packers. How would you feel based off of this scenario. We didn't improve upon last years season but have to sit and watch the Packers select at 21 of next years draft.

As long as Davenport develops into a great player for us it doesn't matter. But he has to be special and has to be able to affect the outcome of games.
I am hoping Will Clapp will still be available. Probably would be a pretty good swing man for a 3rd round pick. Thoughts?

Potential Walk-On QBs

Posted by 1luckyguy on 1/3/18 at 12:24 pm
Assuming Foster does not make it in the remaining four. Who are some potential walk-on options? I would assume it would be someone from in state.

Who you got?

My thoughts exactly!

re: Last 5 in

Posted by 1luckyguy on 12/12/17 at 11:11 am to
Assuming we only have 5 remaining spots.

I think it falls out like this. (Recruits in bold are the most likely to sign with LSU)

2 WRs (Marshall, Keys, Chase, Watkins, Jason)

1 RB (Joiner, Williams)

2 CB (Surtain, Cook, Goodrich)

1 S (Joseph)

In this scenario we do not take a QB.

Noticed in this report Cook mentioning the depth chart SEC Country

"If I go to LSU, Coach O [Ed Orgeron] showed me the depth chart and it’s looking good with Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver leaving and Greedy Williams and Kary Vincent, and Kary’s a nickel, so it’s looking good."

Also in the article he reads a message from Orgeron that says, ”I told the staff that cornerback is a top need for us and you are a priority for us. We are losing two more to the NFL and I can’t wait to see you play in purple and gold for us next year”

I could see possibly Jackson leaving early, he would probably get drafted in the first three rounds. But Toliver??? He shouldn't leave yet.

If this is the case and they both leave we will probably need Surtain Jr. and Cook in this class to help fill the void. All of the sudden DB is a huge need for us.

Edited to update title.

We need help at DE, OLB, and ILB

OLB Cunningham then Bowser

DE Lawson then Walker

ILB McMillan

I would be happy with any of those but Bowser is kind of a reach at 42. Any of the others have a chance at grabbing the staring job at their projected position.
Lattimore and Breaux on the outside and Moore at Nickel?

We dodged a bullet man. That's how ATL does it man!

TJ Watt at 32?

Posted by 1luckyguy on 4/27/17 at 9:06 pm
If he is there I say pull the trigger!

Gets us the CB and pass rusher in the 1st.

That's what everyone was thinking but this is just in reverse. CB first Pass Rusher 2nd.
