At the end of the day I only hope LSU is committed to spending money necessary to win

If this is Alleva not penny pinching I am disappointed otherwise LSU will try to get him back or not cool eitherway

That said I don't know what are shadow staff is but hope we have one and spending that money

No offense to Thomas, he may be good at recruiting; but when it comes to managing his own career he doesn't seem too steadfast.

Now he kinda worked himself out of two jobs, and will have to move his family to an area that they have no ties. (Neither tenn nor la)

If LSU doesn't hire him back, they will never win more than 3 games in a season ever again.

If he was going to get paid 125k+ a raise to not have to recruit, and left anyway of his own volition, he’s not very bright.

I get upward mobility and all, but besides AD, what other job could he get in college in the relative near future?

Former #LSU GM Austin Thomas will not be going to #Tennessee after all, per source. Title and responsibility standpoint didn't work out for him w/ the #Vols but am told it was very amicable and that it was just not the right fit and timing.

This makes 0 sense to me. How could he not knowthese things before he resigned?

I don’t understand why.

He went to his alma mater and home state to be near family.

That isn’t something we can hold against the guy. Bring him back.

How many times do you let him come back? Left USC and came back immediately, left for Tennessee and that all the sudden it isn’t a fit... I’ll take you back once, you go again, you ain’t coming back.

It’s not like he’s a head coach. It’s not a big deal to let him back.

It doesn’t really inspire loyalty in your football staff if you consistently say “hey go take another job, but if it’s not what you thought it would be, we’ll take you back no questions asked”.

He’s been taken back once after doing this, it ain’t happening again. At some point you have to cut bait and move on.

From coaching changes board: apparently the breakdown was that he wants autonomy and basically to make personnel decisions like an NFL GM. Fulmer and Pruitt weren’t comfortable with that and that was it.

quote:

Feldman is dead on. The breakdown between Thomas and the Tennessee athletic department was do to a misunderstanding of what Thomas’ role would be in the program. It came down to one word: “autonomy”. A to Z Sports has learned that Tennessee wanted Thomas to have a typical Director of Player Personnel role. It seems Thomas wanted to run the football program much like an NFL GM, getting autonomy in areas that Phil Fulmer and Jeremy Pruitt weren’t comfortable with giving up. Those areas could include staff hires and staff management, along with all player personnel responsibilities. Giving autonomy to Thomas would be unprecedented in college football. Thomas was only one of two “GMs” in college football while at LSU and he didn’t have complete autonomy at LSU, either.
