Odd. So its not playcalling, just Nuss failing to execute?

If you’ve known he’s banged up you had two shite in state cupcakes to get MVB significant reps to be ready to play but instead you elected to let Nuss just take more hits behind this OL? None of it makes sense.

It makes sense if you think:
1. That a banged up Nuss is better than a healthy MVB, and
2. That Nuss needs the reps (game and practice) more than he needs the rest.

I’m not saying either or both of these things are/were necessarily true, but I think that must be what the staff believed to be true.. at least if you’re looking for a logical explanation. Basically you’re taking a calculated risk that the extra reps will help more than the lack of rest will hurt.

It’s also possible that he re-injured something in practice last week or even early in the game vs. Ole Miss. Or that he’s “healed” enough that there isn’t much medical risk, but that there’s a lingering mental affect and/or pain affecting his mechanics. There are a million possibilities, most of which imply the staff doesn’t have a ton of faith in MVB.

Again.. not saying it was the right decision, just trying to offer plausible reasons they might have made it.

I think it’s a combo. You can call the perfect play every single down, but if 11 guys aren’t doing their assignments then it’s worthless.

excellent revelation. It is obvious that our receivers are very confused out there, that our Oline is just not up to the job....we are going to have to put 5 blockers and a back dedicated to blocking if we are going to complete any passes....and finally, as was said, there is definitely something wrong with Nuss body...he was shown flinching without even being touched and he is underthrowing almost every long pass in the game.
Too many problems after 5 games, that seems to only be getting worse .
I have little hope that this offensive staff, including BK, has any idea how to make our offense work with so many limitations.
Add our receivers. coach to the must be dismissed list. Really too much talent for them to not know how to run 'complementary' pass routes.
That was quite honestly very depressing.

hesitance to throw the football,

This is an observation that is bigger than most understand. Hesitation causes everything to break down. Hesitation = broken execution

Props to the red sox fan for this point and you for expanding on it. IMO, it's a definite contributor to what you see in Nuss.

So as most of us have said. Poor play design plus clearly something physically off for Nuss.

Shocker.

It was very obvious in the first game the receivers have no idea what’s going on.

If the offense were half decent I could get behind that thinking…but I just don’t see what value he’s bringing currently

If not for Lagway being historically lousy with the football, his ineptitude could have you at 0-2 in conference play. I refuse to believe MVB could be worse

The issues with the offense and particularly the running game is scheme. When our idiot OC continues to mix in zone block runs with man block runs, the players get no rhythm.

Zone blocking takes very cerebral players that are quick and agile, who cans diagnose and react quickly to the play at the snap.

It is not something that works as a part-time strategy.

Just like zone coverage takes every single person to quickly diagnose to be successful, it fails miserably with young players and those without the quick ability to diagnose things quickly.

Guess what is helping our defense out this year? Man cover corners. It’s significantly less confusing and allows quick transitions for new players.

That is entirely on Sloan and add in a poorly scripted passing game plus a broken QB, and this is what you get.

Play calling was fine?!?!? Poor execution on a few plays, but even with them dropping 8, we have guys open.

Don't know why you can't blame Nuss.

You are the only moron on the entire Internet who thinks the play calling is "fine".
Why can't you just admit you are wrong? There is plenty of blame to go around.

Nuss is a good/great ANTICIPATORY QB. He is very bad at the deep ball, but his breaking routes that requires anticipation is where he excels at.

If you take that away from Nuss, you have a shite QB. Which is what you have now.

Hes slow on Slants, hes throwing hospital balls to players, and hes slow to react. Its not good.

Yeah, I’m Derek ponamsky for wanting Austin Thomas, the guy who saved us this off season, and Sam Pettito, someone Ohio state adored, to stay at the program for many years.

Where do you freaks come from
