He isn’t coming here or anywhere. As long as he plays decently for SCar next year he will be a 1st round pick lock.
He's from the D.C. Area. He's still at Carolina because he's one of the highest paid players in cfb and he likes playing for the coach LSU just hired.
He or Simmons from Texas will be the first defensive player off of the board in April 2027 regardless of where he plays cfb next season.

Not getting my hopes up for Stewart. BUT, if we pulled that off…. Stewart and Reliford as starting DEs would be so nasty. I really think Reliford was going to take a big step this year if not for the injury. Still think the breakout is coming. I think he has 6-8 sack potential while being a really physical edge setter. The DEs we grabbed from the portal last year all played well for us, but I’d change the strategy and use all that money on one premier guy who’s already proven he can get home as a pass rusher. You still have Carpenter, Cobbins, Jackson, and Shanklin. Develop that group to fill out your rotation. You’d have Stewart, Whit Weeks (healthy at 2024 form) and Pickett. A true difference maker on all 3 levels. And I still think Spears can develop into an All SEC safety.
Our defense could be scary good next year. If all of the main rotation guys stay, a few of the young guys develop and we can add a difference maker or two like Stewart via the portal, the talent will be there for a top 5 type group.

So he will just leave money on the table? USCe can either match what we and others will offer and not be able to field a competitive team again and Beamer will 100% be fired, or they can let him go and try to build up their roster to be more competitive with the NIL funds they have.
Maybe Stewart doesn’t come here, but his biggest tie to USC just left and he’s going to get offered top dollar by multiple programs. He will be one of the top 5 highest paid players next season. Knowing that, I wouldn’t bet one cent on him being at USC next year.

I didn't know corey, raymond only makes 700k a year. I thought that number would be more
If I remember correctly, Florida still owed him money under his contract with them. Therefore, he is getting paid from Florida and LSU both for the last 2 seasons.

Would love to see guys like Cobbins and Shanklin get some run in the bowl game

This is EXACTLY what these nil and free transfer people wanted. The detractors warned this would happen but they didn’t want to hear it. Now you have to have nfl money to compete and the fans of schools that don’t have that kind of money are acting shocked like they had never once considered this could happen.
Agree. Completely myopic buffoons. The mongrel combination of the unrestricted portal and pay-for-play was spawned by the quasi-socialist sentiments that were fashionable in the wake of COVID. What about the players! If the coaches can make money, the players should be able to as well! The players should be able to go to whatever school they want to without sitting out! It's only fair! All sky-screamed with no thought for how it would impact the game in the long term or affect the fans who are the ultimate source of every penny flowing through the sport. In the end, if the passionate fans evaporate because the sport is no longer appealing, all the revenue from TV and sales will also evaporate. No more riches for anyone. They need to fix it before the system implodes. The House settlement may help somewhat, but the unrestricted portal needs to be plugged.

Would he fit in baker's defense?
Do they run a 4-3 or 3-4 defense?

The notion that regular fans can't make a difference (said by the young Hanny guy) is completely wrong.
We've had this conversation multiple times. The entire point of crowd-sourcing is that it raises substantial monies by many people giving a little each.
I dare someone to tell me that in the state of Louisiana there are not 250,000 die hard LSU fans across the state who are willing to give two to five dollars each month to LSU's NIL collective.
At $2/month, that's six million per year in new NIL money. THAT IS SIGNIFICANT.
At $5 per month, that's fifteen million in new NIL money.
Regular fans can make a significant difference in today's college football game of paying players.
Imagine for a minute that we all have the option at our bank to contribute to LSU's NIL fund by rounding up each transaction we make to the next whole dollar.
For instance, your purchase is $5.25. You elect to round up to $6.00 and that $0.75 goes to LSU's NIL collective. This happens every time you make a purchase or at the very least you have the option to do this every time you make a purchase. Do you realize the insane amount of money LSU's NIL Collective would bring in with this type of fund raising? The numbers would be astronomical.
There isn't any doubt there would be fans who would do this and it would bring in tons of money.

Nope. Talk is cheap. 99% of the Rant would not give a penny.

I love listening to all these people whine and cry about how NIL and the portal have ruined college football.
It has actually given many more teams a shot. Get your boosters together, have everyone go all in for 3 years and make a run like SMU, Ole Miss, or Texas Tech. Prpgrams may not be able to sustain that forevevr, but you can at least now shoot your shot.

Just as an update. It is leaning towards Stewart staying. While he does really like Lucas the coach yall hired. He also knows he is only in CFB for one more season. Is generally happy in columbia, is compensated well and will be paid more to stay.

It’s not JUST money. I think it’s high school programs that feed your program, too.
Georgia and Louisiana churn out D1 football players because there’s a place for them to play in college AND they learned to play in high school.
We have all these athletes in Louisiana… but we don’t produce many great soccer players. Plenty of water, but we don’t produce lotta swimmers like Florida does.
Yea, spend money, but also start helping high school programs in your state.

Well, watching an entire podcast on scar football wasn't on my bingo card, but that was entertaining.

A&M hired Elijah Robinson. Can’t imagine going back there once you leave that place.
