I didn’t understand the pitching rotation after Money. I do understand why the other 2 didn’t play.

Who are you talking about

Why would you ever pinch hit Doughty in an SEC game with three innings to play down four?

was also okay starting Money after how he looked vs Vandy. Nothing wrong with throwing him a bone after that performance

It’s just different starting a game vs relieving. Hellmers should have gotten the ball. That move felt like a give-in. The others not so much

It was 5-1 and we put up 2 innings of 5 or more runs twice in the weekend. The game wasn't remotely over if we had Hellmers or Hilliard on the mound. Morgan hits a HR after Doughty bats and it was 5-3. It was still a close game.

Yep. And we scored another run in the 8th and could've had a runner on 3rd.

Had we lost the game and given it our best effort you say hats off to UK and move on. I just don't think CPM gave us our best chance to win today.

As far as Pulmonary I hate looking at him and I hate listening to him, especially after a loss. No man sounds like him.
As good as I felt for this team after the first 2 games the way this 3rd game played out just fricked it up.

You're a great Tiger baseball fan. Appreciate your interest and insight. We'll just have to disagree on this. I'll upvote your post for that.

Coaches show a full gamut of emotions across a season. How much has CPM's really changed? IDK. The interview I listened to last week could've been played circa '10 and I don't think I could've detected any noticeable changes other than just a natural voice weakening that comes with age.

Again, appreciate your fandom.

This is a great example of a good baseball argument. Start Money today or start Hellmers. You could build a case for either guy.

What can not be defended is subbing Doughty for Mikazzo in the 7th and why Hellmers didn’t pitch at all.

Now, we might find out tomorrow that a handful of guys broke curfew or were exposed to Covid and that’s why they didn’t play because reality is if that’s not the case then what Mainieri did today was dereliction of duty.

Was it a health break or something else?

but I think a lot of the criticism, e.g., parsing every statement out of context, become childish and petty. It also distracts from and dilutes legitimate criticism.

I guess I’m taking into account multiple interviews throughout the year.

Gotta be curfew then. No way Pm would have done what he did today. No way could a D-1 coach do that.

Even if Travinski didn’t play for whatever reason, there is zero excuse for subbing Doughty into that game when he did

Not 100 percent healthy, needs a day off now and then, especially since he's a catcher and still growing into his role

You're not conceding by starting Money and sitting Gio and Travinski. Money threw really well against Vandy and is projected to become a weekend starter. Gio and Travinski are coming off of injuries, and their replacements aren't bums.

You're conceding when you go to Hasty in a 5-1 SEC game then to Fowler. You're conceding when you don't go to Hellmers or Edwards (I could even reason for Hilliard) after you cut it to 5-3. You're conceding when you put Braden Doughty behind the plate. You're conceding when you throw Kaminer, George, and Viet. You're conceding when you give your 7-hole hitter a green light on 3-0 with the pitcher struggling, he pops up, and you get the 3rd out thrown at the plate...down by 9.

It was just painful to watch PM piss the game away. It almost seemed deliberate. He didn't piss it away with the lineup or starting pitcher. He pissed it away after Money kept us in the game, Hasty lucked out, and Morgan got us within striking distance.

Well now it sounds like it wasn’t health related.

Great post and you are 100% correct, people who judge solely on national championships are missing the big picture.

There are 64 college baseball teams that make the playoffs and the goal is to get a high seed to host regionals however the path to Omaha is the ultimate goal. This team can still make the playoffs and who know how far they will get.

CPM has coached LSU to 51 wins and 24 loses in the college baseball playoffs.
