I'll give miles credit, pretty much every year where all the wheels could have fallen off, he's pulled his teams together. I know JL's freshman year was bad, but he was just a bad QB that year and we weren't that good on D. But Miles does a good job of keeping the team on the right track when it could all go terribly bad and in the wrong direction.

That's a pretty good post. Nice analysis.

It's too soon to be looking ahead, but Miles also has this program set up to be a contender next year, and should have LSU set to be successful for the next 4-5 with incoming/returing talents.

yep, it was totally professional for a "paid reporter" to ask a question about his "non paid" college players being a flop.

that's totally unprofessional in my opinion.

Maybe miles should have said, excuse me, can you give me your name? ok, everyone, steve smith just ask what do i think about my players being a flop? steve, let me tell you something, then go off on his A$$. Let the world know who this jackass is.

Meh. Miles will probably still blow a game or two. He seems to just have at least 1 moron game every year.

The players get a free education. LSU puts them in a position to be successful as men, and eventually to make millions in the NFL. I see nothing wrong with asking a coach if he feels a player didn't live up to his potential.

IMO, the correct answer would be:

"As the head coach, it is my responsibility to get the best out of each player. If you feel that hasn't happened, then you should be questioning my coaching."

And leave it at that. He sounded like a bumbling idiot who was obviously flustered. I'm sorry if you can't see that. He looked retarded and it was embarrassing.

The realist in you didn't last long.

It wasn't embarrassing in any way and only a true Miles basher would think so.

Miles is a 10-2 coach. Almost like clockwork. Even the NC year he had 2 losses. That wont get SEC titles anymore with Bama in the division. And if it is then we wont get a NC shot.

I know he went 13-1 last year but Im counting 92 yards as 2 losses.

Slack,
Les, is certainly inarticulate, but he is genuine.
His press conference was endearing to many because of this.
While I agree with you that Saban is better at X's and O's and is better organized, Les is a better human being.
While Saban is cold, efficient and his players get :"processed" , Les is emotional and loyal and a "people person."
If I had a son with the opportunity to play for both, I would acknowldge Nick's greater cold efficiency, but go with Les. His press conference shows the warmth and love of his players that cannot be feigned.,

You should've said,
quote:

He may be a bumbling idiot, but he's our bumbling idiot

It was extremely embarrassing. Coaches need to be above the fray and stay professional. You can defend your players without looking stupid. He did not.

I don't agree here. I don't see him stopping the FLA running game in the 2nd half, And I don't see what a difference he would have made against Bama.

Don't tell me what I should have said, you pretentious prick.

I'm sure you are a Saban fan, but he was an arse when he was here, and is still an arse, no matter how many championships he wins. His way is not the only way.

It may have been all of what you say it is....however as a fire up the team, recruits and fanbase, I doubt if Knute Rockne could have done better...

Good thing I scanned the thread before I posted the same exact thing like tons of morons do around here.

Les Miles cost us the Bama game

Clearly he made some bad calls, but somebody came up with a pretty good game plan in the first place to put the team in position to win. He can't take all the blame and get none of the credit... unless you're a negatiger... never mind.
