A Realistic Look from a Nega-Tiger

I've got to give major props to Les Miles this year. With all of the off-field distractions, losing a ton of OL, losing all our LBs against Florida, freshman DBs, new QB, etc., I think that Miles may have done his best job coaching this year. Honestly.
This team could have very easily went 8-4 after losing so many players. Instead, they've gotten better almost every week. I chalk the Ole Miss game up to a week late letdown after Bama, especially after watching Bama lose to Texas A&M and knowing how disheartening it was for the team to know they were so close to the SECCG and maybe even BCSCG.
The offense has gotten better every game. Les looks like he's done a great job of holding the players together and keeping them from quitting when the chips were down. And, we have a ton of guys getting a ton of experience this year.

What are you trying to do, lose your Nega-Tiger status?

If you're normally a nega-tiger, you could have fooled me with that post.
I agree with everything you have said.

You're not a true nega tiger.

I agree. I think last yr was his best coaching job. To make it to the ncg with those tomato cans at qb was unbelievable.

This was our year but injuries and our pothead player suspensions did us in.
Honestly, if Tyrann were playing, I think we might be undefeated even with so many injuries. I love the kid but he really fricked us on that IMO. Oh well.

Not any more brother. Ive gotta agree with every point here. You sound like a realist instead of a negatiger

A true negatiger would say we played down to an inferior opponent at home and almost lost, and that we'll be lucky to win next week.
shite. Does the ability to think like negatager make me one?

Working in a new QB and young defense that had lost two leaders and we could have easily been 2008 all over again.

Les Miles cost us the Bama game, the SEC West, an SEC CG game appearance, and a possible BCSNC by going super conservative against Bama, going away from what worked, and making a bunch of really stupid coaching decisions. Is that better?
That said, we are lucky to be sitting at 9-2 with two point wins against Auburn and South Carolina, a 5 point win against Texas A&M and a 6 point win against Ole Miss. And, I think that coaching goes a long way to making your own luck.
If someone told us that we'd lose our starting LBs against Florida plus have a bandaid of an offense line this year with freshman, most would think we'd lose at least 2, maybe closer to 4. Miles deserves credit for not letting that happen.

I agree with the OP. I have been an anti-Miles guy since he arrived, but must admit that he has probably coached as well as any coach in the country this year, given the circumstances.
(1) You lose the best player on the team in Summer ball (TM7)...a Heisman finalist last year...his replacement is a true freshman and a redshirt freshman, depending on the package on the field and they more than hold their own;
(2) you lose arguably the second most valuable player on the offense behind Mett in Faulk early on and at season's end the O-line is playing as well as any I remember at LSU under Miles;
(3) you lose your best running back for the season, replace him with a freshman that should be in the running for an all-conference spot (maybe third team);
(4) You lose a tough game on the road to UF when you are entering the toughest stretch of the season...beat a top 5 USCe team, then arguably a Top 5-8 aTm on the road and then beat Bama in every way but the scoreboard;
(5) and maybe the most impressive...you win a game against Ole Miss that most coaches, including Saban, would have lost...for whatever reason, the team didn't bring their A game...yet they found a way to win.
(6) Despite an embarrassing and devastating loss in the BCSCG, Miles is closing in on a Top 5 recruiting class that will sustain the program for another half-decade.
Bravo, Miles, Bravo!!!

Salckhouse i sdoing what he said:
Being "realistic" and that means being even handed.
He notes the good and the bad.
That's enough to get branded as a Negatiger on this board.
I agree with his comments, positive and negative about the coaching.
While I call out Les fro his periodic boneheadedness, his post game press conf. was great!,

The way certain units have performed at certain times of the year, this team could easily be 8-3, 7-4 right now. The staff has done a great job of keeping the players together and working through the problems.

Exactly. And the notion of a realistic view from a Nega-Tiger is an oxymoron.

Honestly, besides that stupid assed bomb play call that resulting in the INT, I really didn't see anything bad as far as coaching decisions. Les can't make the DBs not suck.
The only reason I say it was stupid is because it was like the 5th one we had done that qtr and the DBs were playing loose.

I disagree here. IMO, it was unneeded, unprofessional, and embarrassing. He is extremely awkward and strange when he gets flustered and he looked like a moron.
