Kind of similar. It was similar in that games felt like a chore to watch. Moffitt took a ton of blame also.

Yep. And now half the Rant wants Miles and Moffitt back.

I never thought Moffitt was a problem.

I was one of them.

And so, after hiring a position coach, Woodward went the other route went after an experienced established coach from another big program. O did feel like settling on the cheap. BK was the opposite approach.

In my opinion, anything short of winning out and making playoffs this year is grounds for termination since BK had a $18million roster and thumped his chest about keeping receipts,

This is a complaint that baffles me. I’m not sure what y’all want—you want the HC to not be excited and optimistic about his team? You want him to publicly express his concerns? Coaches use public statements as messaging to his players. Maybe he wanted to build up their confidence. Who knows, and it really doesn’t matter. The on-field results is the only thing we should care about.

Miles had a lot of goodwill built up with the fanbase from having won a natty in '07 and having gone to another in '11. We all wanted him to succeed at LSU still, but he just wasn't. Similarly, Kelly isn't succeeding in much the same way (both the wins and the losses are an absolute dredge to even watch), but he doesn't have nearly the same amount of goodwill with the fans, so the desire to move on feels much more antagonistic with Kelly than Miles.

We have receipts too, though.

To me it is similar especially since Miles struggled fielding a good offense multiple years. The 21-0 loss to the gumps probably did it for many. I was in that group.

That being said people liked Les and rooted for him to be better.

After he was let go, every LSU fan was excited for him when Kansas hired him. The common though was "Les is a national treasure. Take good care of him."

That was before we discovered his sex dungeon.

I don't think it has been as frustrating watching games yet but it's getting close to how it was at the end of Miles tenure.

The Rant would have been in full rage, meltdown had it been around for last few seasons of Charlie McClendon. The “game has passed him by” was the near unanimous feeling, however, his former players were staunchly standing by him.

Had been like that since 2009.

I remember watching the Arkansas game in 2009 and feeling like I had a rock in my gut. We should have been destroying that Arkansas team and were plodding along and leaving them in the game.

He was on his way out the year before.
He beat Texas A&M in Tiger Stadium and was treated like a hero, in part as thanks for the National Championship. Alevia was so impressed he canceled the firing.

The goodwill didn’t last long because Miles was too hard headed to change the offense.

How? We cannot run for one or two yards when we need it. It's almost never.

That's a great summary.

2015 was an odd year. The preseason expectations weren't terribly high, then Fournette has the performance of a lifetime vs. Auburn. LSU is winning and LF is the Heisman frontrunner. A 7-0 start, and people are starting to think maybe NC...though Alabama was looming. As it had been for several years at that point, Les's outdated offensive approach is helpless vs. Alabama. Then he gets blown out vs Arkansas and Ole Miss, and the story breaks LSU is going to fire him and hire Jimbo.

Les gets the stay of execution, has a great returning team, with the promise of a changed offense, and excitement in the fanbase from opening in Lambeau Field as a top 5 team. All of the hope/optimism gets immediately dashed in Wisconsin and him being fired becomes not a matter of if, but win. It was clear, once and for all, he REFUSED to adapt to the changes in the game...despite it being clear it was necessary.

This season feels somewhat like 2015 where the fanbase is starting to reach the consensus Kelly, while necessarily "bad", is never going to win a championship (or even make the CFP) here. They know things could be worse with a new hire, but are so tired of the known status quo that they are ready for a change.

I remember in the aftermath of the Ole Miss game hearing the rumblings that the power brokers were just about done. I thought Tennessee in 2010 would be the nail in the coffin but then 2011 happened and bought him another 4+ years and a whole lot of money, especially after pretending to flirt with Arkansas after 2012

we can pass better. with Les we would run over and over and over against teams with great dlines and not gain much towards the end. But as I said earlier it is getting there especially when we have first and goal at the 2 and try hurry up and get to half yard line (good call) then we ecide to change personnel and have to call TO (terrible call just do the hurry up again against a tired dline and don't allow them to sub). then get a procedure penalty and end up kicking fg...that was Les like confusion on that series
