Mistakes by players happen every game from both teams. People blame dropped passes, but bama had their share of drops. Bama missed a chip shot field goal. Games between 2 good teams usually comes down to who makes the plays with the game on the line. Holding LSU to a field goal was a win for the bama team.

It is when an official calls the unsportsmanlike penalty at that point of the game that people are upset about. Would LSU have scored a td? who knows, but they didn't get the opportunity. I am not so much upset over the pass interference in ot because again this is part of the game. They let both sides db's play. If the officials don't call that penalty we may not go to ot.

This is the first time in years I left the stadium mad because I thought the officials played a part in the outcome.

Never allow Ritter to coach a Bama game. Period. His daughter goes there

I always read about Ritter's ties to Bama on here but haven't seen any proof. Anyone have any?

How the frick are you supposed to take care of business? You have two evenly matched teams, and the weaker of the two has home field advantage, which is making the game closer than it should be. Taking care of business would be losing. Our guys took care of business in my opinion. They put themselves in a fricking position to win against a team that's just as good as they are. Then the third team on the field got involved....

How about LSU just takes care of business and not leave it up to the crew. There were plenty of blown opportunities this weekend

This is the correct answer. Bitching about the refs is for losers.

Or perhaps we could set it up so that after every game in Tiger Stadium we keep the refs in the middle of the field and turn off all the lights for five minutes. If they called a good game everything will be fine.

I have an old friend who is an ACC football official and Florida State grad. I'm pretty sure he cannot call Florida State games.

It should be policy; it's not that complicated. The ADs from all the SEC schools could simply vote on the policy like any other change and pass it 11-1.

It already is...but it's stupid on it's face. One could clearly alter the destiny of one's one alma mater regardless of whether or not they are calling games that directly involve their own team. This ought to be clear. Having an official with ties to ANY program in the conference makes absolutely no sense at all. And I'm not accusing Ritter specifically of that...just pointing out that this is not nearly enough distance to remove a conflict of interest. Whether in our conference, or in your example of the ACC.

Additionally, since the SEC has this policy in place, would someone finally address why it is then ok to have an alumnus of a member university oversee ALL officiating? Calling a game involving one's own school is bad...but being the boss of all officials that cover your school is ok? When questionable calls happen during an Alabama games, those question MUST go through Steve Shaw who is an Alabama alumnus. Regardless of whether or not he is, in fact, an honorable man...why are so many of you happy to turn a blind eye to this GLARING conflict of interest out of fear of being calling whiny? Would you not be more comfortable having issues heard by someone who, at the very least, could appear to be impartial because he has no ties at all to any school in the conference?

Why is this simple request met with such surprise?

What is your main point? The officiating could not possibly be corrupt? Are not the coaches responsible for the entire program win or lose? Sure kids are going to make errors, but officiating seems to intrude into and affect a lot of games played by teams from Alabama. I do not think denying it makes it go away. Do you?

It was moved there from Jackson, MS in 1948. Are you saying that suspicious activity was occurring 10 years before Bear? If it had stayed in Jackson would Bear have gone to Starkvegas? Enquiring minds want to know!
