A nice Trip Down Memory Lane or How I Barely Survived Being Excoriated by SFP...
First of all, Geaux Tigers. We are a united family.
And we just completed the greatest single season in CFB history.
Coach O did that. Coach O. Ed Freakin' Orgeron.

Second, it is fun to see how my suggestion that we give Coach O a fair shake was met back in November of 2016. Give it a read. It's a reminder of our shared inability to predict the future and why a "wait and see " approach is usually the right approach.

Kinda how you said we were gonna wreck shite in 2017 in that thread.

This is a weird thread.

It's not weird. It's just a thread that demonstrates that we have NO IDEA what the future holds, sometimes are underlying assumptions are fear-based and that it's sheer folly to talk in absolutes about the future. I spent most of 2016 talking people off the ledge, whether it was politics or sports and now those same people are overjoyed. Maybe somebody can read it and the next time there is uncertainty, they might not declare the end of LSU football prosperity.

"Pimp! The worst case scenario just happened! The man least qualified to be the head coach of a top-10 program got promoted because Alleva "felt" it was the right thing in "his heart."

The fan-base was promised someone who had substantial experience with success, but instead got handed someone who lost 4 games as interim HC at both USC and LSU."

-----wow, that post didn't age well

JuiceTerry was very wrong again?

And not a good thread for SFP, but he likes to debate for the sake of debating at times.

It's super weird to make this pat on your back thread now. It's even more weird considering that you yourself made a pretty wrong prediction in your own thread.

I always have to hold SFP’s hand in stressful times. He tends to go straight to Catastrophe Syndrome and then calm down later.

He kept challenging me to a bet that all would be lost, lol.

Funny the guy that said O would never lead LSU to a CFB playoff would show up in this thread and talk shite to a guy that got it right lmao

Yep, hindsight is always 20/20. Goes the same for when things are going well. The next loss is just an eruption away.

My issue is when a guy goes straight to DESPAIR about something that has not, and may not actually happen. It’s just fear. I have no problem with thinking O would fail, just with announcing it as if it was UNAVOIDABLE FACT . That’s all I did in that thread, ask people not to project their worst case scenario all over the board, not to be that Catastrophe Syndrome guy.

I like these sorts of responses from fans. As if being apoplectic as an observer about things that you think may happen in the future is the true way to insure EXCELLENCE.

Straight to the hysterical melt. That’s what ensures “ excellence “. Lol.

Also I love how the guy who you didn’t get is automatically assumed to be the GOAT. It’s projecting the worst case scenario upon yourself and the best case scenario on your rivals because you are SCARED and ANXIOUS. Just a reminder for our next coaching search. It’s a crapshoot and nobody knows what they don’t know.

re: A nice Trip Down Memory Lane or How I Barely Survived Being Excoriated by SFP...
Full disclosure, I read the thread first to make sure I hadn't knee-jerked in it.

I spent a couple hours on a Saturday with a good friend in administration in his office to discuss the O situation prior to the 2018 season, b/c I considered giving up my tickets. He was and has been a big O supporter and was instrumental in the hire.

I had my doubts, but he assured me that O would get someone to recruit and develop the QB's. He had plenty to say about the Jimbo and Herman episodes. And mind you, this is way before O's eventual success and their runs at their respective schools.

He was deadly accurate on every point, and we are blessed to have guys like him to advise us. Like SFP, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on the subject of football. I won't say I was wrong in this case, but I wasn't right.
