A nice Trip Down Memory Lane or How I Barely Survived Being Excoriated by SFP...

First of all, Geaux Tigers. We are a united family.
And we just completed the greatest single season in CFB history.
Coach O did that. Coach O. Ed Freakin' Orgeron.
Second, it is fun to see how my suggestion that we give Coach O a fair shake was met back in November of 2016. Give it a read. It's a reminder of our shared inability to predict the future and why a "wait and see " approach is usually the right approach.

It's not weird. It's just a thread that demonstrates that we have NO IDEA what the future holds, sometimes are underlying assumptions are fear-based and that it's sheer folly to talk in absolutes about the future. I spent most of 2016 talking people off the ledge, whether it was politics or sports and now those same people are overjoyed. Maybe somebody can read it and the next time there is uncertainty, they might not declare the end of LSU football prosperity.

My issue is when a guy goes straight to DESPAIR about something that has not, and may not actually happen. It’s just fear. I have no problem with thinking O would fail, just with announcing it as if it was UNAVOIDABLE FACT . That’s all I did in that thread, ask people not to project their worst case scenario all over the board, not to be that Catastrophe Syndrome guy.

Full disclosure, I read the thread first to make sure I hadn't knee-jerked in it.
I spent a couple hours on a Saturday with a good friend in administration in his office to discuss the O situation prior to the 2018 season, b/c I considered giving up my tickets. He was and has been a big O supporter and was instrumental in the hire.
I had my doubts, but he assured me that O would get someone to recruit and develop the QB's. He had plenty to say about the Jimbo and Herman episodes. And mind you, this is way before O's eventual success and their runs at their respective schools.
He was deadly accurate on every point, and we are blessed to have guys like him to advise us. Like SFP, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on the subject of football. I won't say I was wrong in this case, but I wasn't right.
