LACK OF CONTROL fuels your FEAR which creates your ANXIETY

I get that. You are suffering from "Learned Helplessness" stemming from repeat disapointments perpetrated on you by Les Miles. It is time that you let go of this and stop projecting your fear and anxiety all over the board.
I have a really crazy idea. Take a wait and see approach. Wait for the actual on-the-field-results to come in before you declare this an unmitigated disaster. Imagine that. All these horrible scenarios playing in your head DON'T ACTUALLY EXIST. Your inner-narrative is betraying you and causing you to react negatively, pessimistically and non-constructively.
Adjust yourself. Wait and See. You may be right. All your fears may come true. You can always start the Fire Bebe movement next year after we go 0-12 or after we don't get a first down against Alabama or whatever catastrophic scenario exists in your head. Or you may be wrong, and you may be doing yourself, LSU football and everybody else a huge disservice by trafficking in Chicken Little scenarios.

I'm taking the wait and see approach but the optics here are that we didn't bother conducting a thorough coaching search after firing a coach mid season.
That's not a good sign.

The frick...
Pimp! The worst case scenario just happened! The man least qualified to be the head coach of a top-10 program got promoted because Alleva "felt" it was the right thing in "his heart."
The fan-base was promised someone who had substantial experience with success, but instead got handed someone who lost 4 games as interim HC at both USC and LSU.

See. That's a rational response.

You are talking as if the hire was time = 0.
The clock started when we fired Les.
This is a shite outcome.

Nah, people love to be infuriated and filled with drama. Practicality isn't the answer.

I like the hire

First, I love ya man. Nothing personal. But Jimbo and Herman didn't want the gig. Saban and Meyer aren't available. And it's not really defensible to infer that Coach O did a bad job at either USC or LSU. Regardless, the deed is done. Now you have to make a decision about what you are going to do. I'd advise the "what and see cautiously optimistic" approach. Preemptive melts are a disservice to yourself. You do not know what you don't know.

No underwhelming shitty hires fuel anxiety.
But that soon turns to laughter.

I agree with you. We wanted Miles out so lets see what happens. Tell your mom I said hello.

consistent 3-5 loss seasons "doesn't actually exist"?

ok
you don't just give up after options 1-4 aren't available and skip down to option #75 without doing anything else

oh if O has the biggest outlier coaching career in CFB history i'll be happy
i'll bet a very large amount of money that doesn't happen

Im enjoying the "poaching kiffin hurts bama" spin. If anything those bastards just got better.

Another turgid exercise in flimsy pop-psychology from Pimp, completely devoid of any football related evidence or analysis.
Of course we'll take a wait and see approach. We have no choice. But extant evidence suggests this is a mediocre hire. That's not catastrophe syndrome, it's simple foresight.

Lots of catastrophizing
Lots of folks need (insert your preference):
Jesus
Meditation
Mindfulness
A time out from social media
All of the above
Edit: if you are really downvoting this, you likely need to heed it and you are making my my point...

Your brain is becoming a disorganized mess, Joshie. Like I just said, You are suffering from learned helplessness from the Miles years. You have already projected a specific number of losses onto LSU 2017 and beyond. That's your anxiety talking. It's your internal fears expressed aloud.
Just calm down. You have no control over it. Wait and see. You may very well be pleasantly surprised.
