Nah. The head coach gets the credit and the blame for wins and losses. They are the ones making the decisions that impact the program.

That's a once shot scenario. Being a head coach involves thousands and thousands of decisions in a full season.

Orgeron hired the coaches and recruited most of the players while also doing coaching on the field. He deserves the credit for 2019 just as he deserves the blame for the losses as well. That's the nature of being a head coach.

you only get 3 zook like years in a row (4 or 5 loss seasons)before you are fired IF you have not won a natty. he won a natty like chiz. that ups the ante and requirements to maintain. His record is shite since the natty.

Gene Chizik was fired for following his national championship with one mediocre season and one terrible season and he didn’t have nearly as much wild off the field stuff going on that O has.

O is definitely gone if this continues this year

Performance trends (what is normalizing vs. what is anomaly), behaviors (not interviewing Pellini; chasing "Joe Brady's offense" undermine confidence) and leading indicators strongly suggest too much impulse and not near enough vision and management excellence.

I am a fan of Coach O. I like him alot. I want him to be successful at LSU.

...but his behaviors do not align with what I think a $100mln business needs for the long haul in a competitive race that is college football in the SEC.

If you are not gaining ground, you are losing it.

No one said he doesn’t deserve credit for 2019. Just that that one year doesn’t mean he is a good coach. Just like hitting a hole in one doesn’t make you a good golfer.

Statistically speaking, it’s apparently easier to win a national championship at LSU than it is to hit a hole in one. Given that 3 out of 33 have done so while that same same statistic is nowhere close to that for golfers who have hit a hole in one.

It didn’t for Chizik he won the championship in his 2nd season was fired after his fourth season. O isn’t much different as of now.

Chizik went 14-0 in 2010 O went 15-0 in 19
Chizik went 4-4 in the SEC in 11, O went 5-5 in 2020
Chizik went 0-8 in the SEC in 12, lets see what happens this year.

We shall see what happens but winning a national championship doesn’t excuse two bad years.

It would take anything worse than 6-6 IMHO

.500 over 2 years isnt good enough and when you peel away from just the W/L layer and see the other things that are going on and the systematic breakdown defensively it’s grounds for firing IMO

Still think this team can dick around and win 8 but we’re gonna find out a lot about them in the next 2 weeks for sure

TAF is who is spending the money on this and they have had enough. If the team was playing well and just had a close loss at UCLA you would probably be right but they just look soooo bad. Couple that with some of his off field issues and he needs to win 8 more games or he’s gone. Everyone can see that this team will be lucky to find 4 more wins. Lucky….

This right here. LSU is having a meltdown. Let me just educate you on a few things going on right now:
-Coach O is a defendant in 2 title IX cases
-Coach O’s off the field antics(pictures with women, heckling fans, showing up at boosters fishing camps) are starting to pile up
-John Emery is out for the season due to academics, which should not happens. Regardless if it was Emery or someone mixedup the classes, LSU has all of the resources in the world to make sure this dude passes his schooling.
-O-line is in shambles
-We have 140 yards rushing total in two games
-Coach O hired two guys in the off season who have never called plays which proves his inability to hire competent coordinators. We have been through 3 Offensive coordinators and 3 defensive coordinators in his 5 years.

And the list goes on. I was an O fan. He did all of the right things in his first three years. But it is clear, aside from Joe Brady, he cannot hire competent coaches and he didn’t know how to handle success. The divorce didn’t help either.

No. Not if universally deemed a "one off" and when surrounded with a litany of hiring and other program issues, as well as the changing paradigm of major programs "cutting bait" in the early-mid season

Are you watching? This is already happening plus all the bad pr and other bullshite.

Yes a NC normally buys maybe 3 years but when the coach is a collasal value the next season and starts the one after that with the same trajectory, well that tightens the noose, well leash significantly
