Well I sure hope so against the teams they're playing.

I don't think anybody will argue our schedule hasn't been pretty weak this year. But, it's not like we've played 8 LA Tech's either. Show me another SEC team that has ever put up the numbers Bama has this year, even against subpar defenses. You're going to have a difficult time finding many, and if you find one, I'll bet it's one of the best SEC offenses ever.

Whether you like it or not, and I think most LSU fans here understand this, Bama has a very, very good offense. It's the best I've ever seen at Bama by a long shot. Prepare yourself for that to be true Saturday night. That doesn't mean LSU can't win, but trying to talk yourself into believing Tua, or the offense isn't great, is a waste of time. They could have scored 80 on some of the teams they've played, with ease. They're not struggling to score 50 against weak defenses, they're doing it without even trying.

Is Missouri really the best defense they have faced?

You're an idiot if you think hes only throwing passes to Wide open receivers.

Hes fitting the ball in tight spaces on a number of throws.

Go back and watch.

If LSU wins it wont be because Tua is an overrated QB.

I am pretty sure LA Tech would be the best pass defense Bama faces by a large margin. I know stats are relative, but...

On 24 attempts. Most of his completions were either behind the LOS or within 10 yards of the LOS. The energy Tua brought was awesome and his poise was epic but if you look at his mid-range passing results in that game it was pretty average.

On 24 attempts when everyone knew he was throwing almost every play.

Here's all his plays vs UGA:
LINK

Tua completed 7 passes that were either mid-range passes or bombs (3 on the first TD drive)
He completed 3 swing passes to RBs
He completed 4 WR screens

This year, his mid-range passing game has been as impressive as the deep ball.

You fail to mention that Tua was inserted into the biggest game of the season, without many (as in none) meaningful snaps. He was also a true freshman. Bama put 26 points on one of the countries best defenses in one half, plus two plays. As far as luck goes in completing the pass that tied the game: you may be right on that point. But if Harris was Tua's target, he was eliminated by being tackled in the back of the endzone. If the pass had been incomplete, it would have surely drawn a PI call.

But don't let any of this cloud your thinking.

You seem very certain of your analysis. Bama is favored by 14.5 points. So, how much money are you betting on LSU?

It's the best secondary in the country, so of course they are. But UGA was the best secondary Oklahoma faced last year by a wide margin and they still put up 45.

Right, you've played a lot worse than that.

LA Tech is the 34th pass defense.

Crazy to think Saban, in what is suppose to be coaching genius, nearly ran off Tua because he refused to play him all year for Jalen Hurts. I think it was pretty well known Tua was going to transfer in the offseason if that 2nd half in the championship game didn't happen.

Saban is a walking lucky charm with the way his own stubbornness has been rescued from him. Play Jalen, squeak by tougher competition and finally get blown out by Auburn, avoid playing Georgia a week later, back into the playoffs, and still refuse to play your best QB all year out of fear of mistakes and need a first half meltdown by Hurts in order to be saved from himself and his own stubbornness.

I always thought Miles was a coaching unicorn of luck, but damn Saban's own stupidity has been saved from him even after his coaching blunders.

These stats will eventually prove LSU is the paper Tiger and Alabama is the best offense in the country.

Wow, those are some eye popping stats. Tua isn't even performing much better than Hurts is, and Hurts has to play in run only type offenses late in games!

And we all know how Hurts did against good defenses.

Our Tigers definitely see this too!

Dude, watch your own video. In his first 23 attempts he complete 3 passes between 10-20 yards and his first completion over 20 yards was the game winner in OT.

I'd feel less confident..

Just have to limit the big play.
Keep the wide receivers from being retardedly wide open and this game will look a whole whole lot different from Bama's other games.

This is my take. I have affiliation with both schools. I like my chances of seeing a play off team this year ;). I am certainly betting against the spread.

While I think Bama's strength of schedule makes it hard to makes LSU the first real test they've had this season. I think people are here are over rating strength of schedule. I remember that in 2011 (the season which LSU and Bama met again in the national championship) involved teams ranked Ok State and Oregon (#2 /#3) losing later in the season to teams ranked #18 and unranked. Thats why bama played at all in that game.

Bama this season has been able to put four touch down leads in 10 minutes of the game against teams of that caliber. I'm pretty sure that has something to do with this new starting qb kid.

If LSU wins it probably will be the defense here in BR does well enough from preventing Bama from scoring more than three touchdowns. Bama's defense allows at least 3 touch downs. I figure the game will look something like 21 LSU, 19 Bama (assuming Bama kicker).

If bama gets four touch downs, I think bama wins.

Jesus Christ who left the barn door open and let all the Bama fans in here

I get the point OP was trying to make I think, comparing Tua's stats to Hurts's stats this year. Hurts's improvement passing leads one to believe that something else is in play when it comes to Bama's offense.

Tua is still fantastic though.

Tua is a phenom. There is no doubt. But our Tigers seem to flourish against elite QB's and high powered offenses. Every game except 1 or 2 that I can remember our Defense (when we have an elite defense) rises to the challenge.

Johnny football, Chad Kelly, Lamar Louis, Oregon under Chip, Texas Tech back in 2015, every one of those teams were supposed to destroy us.

Aaron Murray and Cam Newton may be the only two stud QB's that I can recall that made our Defense look subpar. Possibly Dak.
