why are 50/50 balls should be catches by our guys?

Because we have 5 star WR's with size advantages...

passes in the 3Q that got shat on by everyone:

1. Jump ball to Dupre that was intercepted - was under thrown but Dupre didn't get position and made no effort to contest it.

2. *Slightly* overthrown ball to Guice when he couldn't really step into the throw. Guice should have had it.

Disagree with both of these. Deep ball to Dupre was a really under thrown and didn't give Dupre time to stop and set his feet to get under it. Dupre didn't have a good game but wasnt on him.

The ball to Guice was bad bc he just needed to make sure he got it to him since he was so wide open. Him not being able to step into is all the more reason to not try to make a perfect throw but an adequate throw.

Go back and watch it again. He does have a step on him but he doesn't go after the ball using his size to his advantage. He plays smaller than he is and his effort needs to be better or they need to look at someone else. For god's sake, we have like 6 WRs over 6'3"...pull a name out of that big arse Hat, Miles!

they said LSU wr's meaning he and Dural

How would they know (or at least believe) this in the very first game of the season?

That was their assessment of LSU wrs from watching game film...there isn't a scouting report any team can get

As with other facets of our play under Miles, sometimes you just have to accept that certain things are status quo when they happen over and over and over again.

I think if he had more balls thrown his way he would develop some confidence and could turn into a great wr. Its almost impossible to bench him with his height and speed though

I think brandon is now pretty much mentally shot, he lost any shred of confidence he had going into the UW game.

I wonder how much goes back to getting tossed in at AU two years ago.

Dupre and Dural are basically the only ones that get significant targets in our offense when Harris is under center.

I thought Etling's poise alone was enough to earn him a shot. Now, my concern is his arm. I haven't rewatched & I was kinda drunk, but it didn't seem like he had much zip. Was it touch? Or does he have a noodle arm? Was that under thrown ball/s a bad throw or does he not have the arm strength?

I'm thinking of these quick hitch routes & vertical balls that miles loves. Can Etling throw them?

If he can't then,
A) do they build around him, dinking and dunking, doing things he CAN do?
Or
B) miles calls what miles wants, Etling just "needs to execute and he'll be fine"
That's the million dollar question for me.

If u tell me he has the arm, I'm confident. Cause I liked his demeanor

I don't expect Dural to be as physical as Dupre, he is more of the speed guy. Dupre is suppose to be the monster possession wr so i suspect the comment was mostly about him.

The not in a rhythm argument could be used if charknado was dropping passes when targeted. Dupre gets plenty of targets considering the limited throws we make.

Single back base sets are what we should be, no doubt.

I don't think he grasps the offense at all and combine that with the fact that he's likely so over coached on his shitty mechanics that he's doing way too much thinking within a play. He's overwhelmed

i dont hate the Iform, it can still be useful but i think with a 3 wr set and a legit threat at tight end we would find running lanes open up.

and a lot of them are off target. Look I agree he has been dropping catchable balls but every ball thrown his way that hits the ground isn't his fault. I think it is mental now for him.

of course not, but he had 2 blatant drops this weekend with one being on 3rd down

he needs to step up and do it quick

he is playing himself out of the NFL right now

I think the way we handled the au contributed to this mental frick. we ran the ball basically 18 times or something like that while our D was busy being lost.

Les and Cam seem to not be able to do a common sense scaling back of the play book. they like with recruiting continue to try and force the square into the round hole.

harris might be ok if we had a spread run option, or we made the playbook like we did for him vs state where it was instinct vs thinking.

They even did it with mett because they would call boot legs for him when he clearly sucked at them.

I think it was mainly about Dupre, but regardless, what point are you trying to make? Is their assessment incorrect or inaccurate?

Exactly. Dupre plays soft and does not go up and get it. The kid has skills but he needs to flip the switch. I don't know how many more drops you allow before you quit calling his number and give someone else a chance.

Maybe he doesn't want to play for Etling. Since they benched his boy.

Our QB "development" under Miles seems to follow a standard procedure. One facet of that is having a green QB sling the ball all over the place. Almost as if to prove a point. It's odd. I've given up trying to figure out a reason.

This was my long-winded way to say that I do think that the AU start for Harris has contributed to his current state.
