So if he wins the CWS this year do you just say he's a west coast guy. Not good enough? ??
"West Coast guy" meaning he may prefer to stay in the PAC-10, not meaning he's not good enough or wouldn't "fit in".

Sully, 7 CWS in 10 Years and he was not good enough for the Rant so nothing will be.
I think Sully would already be in his LSU Office if he could just keep his thing in his pants. Rumor now is he's dating a recent volleyball grad.

I wouldn’t melt, seems like a good coach.
I think there is a tad bit of risk with him having never left out West. Born in Cali, always coached and played out West. Doesn’t really seem like a fit to me.
I’ll also point out that, until this year, his program was clearly trending downward since year1
Year1: 49 wins (CWS runner-up)
Year2: 38 wins (NCAA regional)
Year3: 34 wins (didn’t make tourney)
Year4: 32 wins (didn’t make tourney)
Year5: Covid
Year6: This year: back to CWS
-obviously got things back on track this year, but the first 4 year progression is concerning

I would take him and be happy. One of my top choices.

Pretty sure there are kids in California dying to get out. Skip's rosters were from all over the place. Baseball is baseball. Not that it matters, Johnson isn't coming here. I doubt that he's even a candidate.

I know Jay Johnson personally, he is a great coach and fantastic recruiter. And a big plus is he is wired into the Southwest recruiting and most specifically in SoCal where some of the best baseball is played in the entire country.
If we get Jay Johnson, LSU fans will love the results.

Only negative I see is he is a west coast lifer. No experience in south or SE.
Not as big a deal as you think, Johnson is very opportunistic. If I remember correctly he either left Nevada after one year or two years to go to Zona.
If we offer he will take the job.
The only problem I see is, he is the only guy we are talking about that I could see him jump to the MLB. He carries himself as more of a “ceo” type and the MLB loves that type of manager although the jump from college to pro’s in baseball isn’t a regular occurrence.

We have some CA kids on the roster now. I think 2 are starters. He wouldn't have a problem down here unless he's a SJW. Got to interview him and find out.

Wrong, I know from a sauce inside the athletic department his name is definitely on a short list. But that is all I know about it, don’t know how serious his name is in consideration.

I can tell you this for a fact considering I have been involved in high school baseball in SoCal for 20years is some form or capacity. The kids in SoCal consider LSU as a “destination” school for college baseball.

Uh oh... Jay Johnson called TO in the middle of an AB to talk to the hitter. The Rant will not want him now.
