Mammoth of a man and has really impressed the coaches in fall camp. Getting a great opportunity in place of Smith and FSU is going to test the waters early running Benson up against our front 7.

He was on Bruce Feldman's 2022 freak list:

quote:

"Expect this guy to be more of a presence on the WVU front. The former state champion wrestler in Florida has some elite testing numbers for a young 6'3'", 300-pounder. Start with his 34.5 inch vertical and his 1.66-second 10-yard split, but his power numbers are just as impressive. Jefferson benches 445 lbs, squats 700 and power cleans 405. Jefferson isn't the only freak on West Virginia's d-line.

I was pretty high on him out of the portal. Has his name even been mentioned once since he came on campus? I don't think I saw any reports on him in practice. Need him to step up big with Smith sidelined which is a massive loss for LSU and absolute bullshite.

Not much chatter about him but he's been brought up by Kelly. He's going to wreck FSU's line with Wingo.

Those numbers are insane.

He's been mentioned in some practice reports as "looking good". Without Smith, I don't see any elite guys that can constantly eat up multiple blockers, but several good players in Jefferson, Guillory, and Lee. Mingo will be good on the other side. Maybe West can provide some solid depth as well now that he's dedicated to playing DL.

Concur, and he certainly looks the part getting off the bus. Wingo, Smith (post-FSU), Guillory and Jefferson are going to be a superb rotation all season. Relentless.

I’m surprised Jefferson hasn’t been talked about much. He was great at WV last year, and is one of my favorite transfers we landed.

These numbers are just stupid.

Wow. Gotta say he’s an above average DT.

Batting balls is a skill not many utilize but he does it very well. His ability to take on two blockers and maintain his gap integrity is elite. His effort is a 10 every play. He looks like a good character player with high athletic ability and strength. Will be formidable throughout the season.

Kelly singled him out on Monday:

quote:

“We would love for Maason Smith to be playing in this game, he’s an outstanding football player,” Kelly said. “But we really are pleased with the growth and development of our defensive line. Guys that we haven’t talked a lot about, (West Virginia transfer Jordan) Jefferson has been outstanding in camp, we think he’s physical, plays really strong at the point of attack.

Media guys aren't going to do a good job of telling you how the interior line play is doing. Now a three-man rotation of Wingo, Guillory, and Jefferson isn't great. You'd like to have a couple more guys step up there.

CBK also mentioned Lee as having a good camp after getting in better shape. paraphrasing but he was decent at Florida at times and could be a solid rotational guy.

Jefferson really needs to make lots of noise in this game. What a great way it would be for him to properly introduce himself to LSU fans than by making a key sack in the fourth quarter or causing a big fumble late in the game.

Here’s hoping he’s the best Jordan Jefferson to ever play for LSU.

He absolutely abused the interior of the Virgina Tech line. I know they are happy not to have to face him. Particularly that VaTech center. Ooof

He was pretty good at WVU last year. Started 12 games, 9 tackles for loss and 3 sacks in the Big 12.

That would make him very good, indeed. The last one led us to two victories over Bama.

Really looking forward to seeing him get some needed playing time. I think our DL is going to be pretty impressive honestly.
