They have been calling people asking them to opt out to meet the number requirements.

30,400 is 38% of 80,000 season tickets

My gut feeling is that LSU is shooting for:

20,000 season tickets (out of a normal ~80,000)
5,000 students (out of a normal ~12,000)
500 player family and LSU Ath Dept. staff
25,500 total in stadium

The other 10,000 normal tickets are visitor and non-season tickets.

This means they are looking for about 8 to 10K more season ticket holders to opt out.

Are you able to opt out of half of your tickets? So far it has seemed as if it is an all or nothing. I have four, but would like to only keep two of them for this year.

It's all or nothing, but what I think they will do if they have to start cutting is start with people with the most tickets and work their way down.

Example: If you have more than 8 you may only get 8. Then if they still have too many people they may cut everyone back to 6 max or even 4.

It all depends how many opt out, but if you have 2 you will probably get them and if you have 4 or 6 you may get all 4 or 6.

12,000 students? I always thought it was half of the 31,000 student population

12,000 is a guesstimate.

It may be 15,000+ when it is packed. My son (current SOPH) said for the Florida game last season he didn't even really have a 'seat' as he was standing almost sideways to fit in the row.

No alcohol sales is a big one for me
Unless I'm mistaken, they just announced today that there would be no alcohol sales. So,it seems like that would cause some people to opt out at the last minute that hadn't opted out before.

That is close enough to the 25% that they ought to just let everyone in, along with the students. That will allow for enough social distancing, at least until people move from the nosebleed seats to pack themselves in to the better ones which they will do anyway. Who gets told they can't go? It better not be me.

I don’t think there is 80,000 season tickets. I believe the number is in the upper 60s.

I also think there are more than 10k tickets for visitors and non-season tickets (single game). 8k tickets are given to visitors. There are a whole lot more than 2k single game tickets.

I believe the Advocate said something like 74,000 Season Ticket Holders. It also said this:

"LSU could increase, or decrease, its stadium capacity if public health trends change. Because of the fluctuation, Broussard said LSU is sending out tickets week to week, instead of sending season-ticket holders all of their tickets at the start of the season."

I just opted out yesterday. Sucks, but was worried about the uncertainty.

Not that it's that crazy but I've never heard of anyone having a lone season ticket

I have a single season ticket too. I am single so I buy one ticket. I go to games solo but I tailgate with other people if I feel up to it.

From what I understand, the Evil Twins each have their own single season tickets but they sit next to each other.

Will there be a secondary market you can buy on? If a ticketholder opts in and can't go for any reason, do they have any recourse to sell/give away tickets?

Semantics, but it's about 74,000 seats sold as season tickets (not individual season ticket holders). If I recall correctly, approximately 14,000 tickets are sold to students, 7000 for visitors, about 500 seats go to the band, and another 2-400 for players' families. There are also various comp tickets available for groups like the high school coaches associate.

If my math's right that leaves about 5000 tickets sold an individual basis.
