That includes a 14-3 mark against ranked opponents at the 2:30 slot.

Those three losses were to:

No. 2 Florida in 2001
No. 9 UGA in 2008
No. 1 Alabama in 2008

3 of the 8 losses during the day happened in 2008.

EDIT: Shoutout ryker who informed me that I missed the 2020 Mississippi State game. I originally stated that the 2008 Ole Miss game was the last time we lost at home at 2:30.

It changes our record to 33-9 in morning/afternoon games.

2008… that was a rough year.

Seems we always have the worst of hangovers after winning it all - I’ll take that trade off any day of the week though.

2004 we went 8-5 won NC in 2003
2008 we went 8-5 won NC in 2007
2012 we went 10-3 lost NC in 2011
2020 we went 5-5 won NC in 2019

Some rough years for sure after winning or playing for all the marbles. Hopefully, that trend has been eviscerated.

Rex Grossman and Jabar Gaffney pretty much had their way with us and taunted the student section all day.

I thought Grossman was going to win the Heisman after that game.

I’m convinced one of the most important non LSU games that affected the trajectory of the program was the 01 Tennessee/Florida game. It’s up there with Oklahoma State/Iowa State in 2011 and Pitt/WVU in 2007.

Given how badly Florida had beaten us, I think that 2001 SEC Championship game looks a lot different if Gators win against the Vols at home.

I stand corrected. Thank you for that. I was thinking 2002 season that they finished 8-5

Nick Saban didn't teach you nothing did he? The past means nothing when it comes to football and the next game. Irrelevant.

Went to the Miss State game this year and I think it was the most perfect weather I've ever attended a game in.

Whether Saban said that or not, it's incorrect.

which is also the last time we lost a 2:30 game at home (Ole Miss who was unranked).

Correct me if I am wrong but was the MSST covid year loss to Mike Leach not a home 2:30 game?

I believe we were ranked and they were unranked. I was at that game. Super weird with the covid restrictions. Depressing loss for sure.

2020 was such an odd year that I don't remember any plays or games outside of the shoe throw and York drilling the FG, and then the last Kayshon Boutte TD against Ole Miss to give us the lead.

Probably why I missed it when compiling all the information
