Tells you all ya need to know. Johnson will get the infield fixed thru recruiting, he has done a good job. No true starting pitching, tho Hilliard has done well. No true catcher with Mallazo out. Where would this team be without Berry and Cooper, both came with Jay.

Well the rent said he needed to DH and not see the field

And this weekend we still had plenty of errors

So once again the rant is wrong

Berry in the lineup prob would've helped us win game 1 either directly or indirectly, so game 2 would've either been a different story or not much to be worried about with the series tied 1-1.

It's been a bad storm this weekend. The weather delay hurt us, as it turns out. Gotta get 1 tomorrow.

Not what OP said. He asked where would the team be without them. Same as where would the 2019 football team have been without Burrow.

You could say that about a lot of players. Where would this team be without Crews, Hilliard, etc. They’re all important, as you can see with Milazzo being out.

And Jay has never recruited good defensive teams, so I’m not sure what makes you think he’s going to start now.

Doughty and Jay share some blame here. Doughty has proven he can play 3rd well but he's not good when he has too much time to think. Doughty has been out of position all year bc Berry was promised 3rd. What's sad is that even with Berry out we have refused to put Cade in his natural position and let Cranford/Bianco/Dugas play 2nd-all of whom have played there before better than Doughty is currently

JJ didn’t recruit the players on this team making the most errors and they probably will not be here next year.

Infield was fine last season and they’re all still here. Maybe he can “fix it” but it’s him who fricked it up to begin with.

Are you saying that we won't recruit guys like Cade Doughty?

The same players have gotten worse this year than they were last year. We will be better defensively next year because it’s almost impossible to be worse. That doesn’t mean we’ll be good. Jay is an offensive coach.

He will continue to recruit players like Cade Doughty because he would be stupid not to.

We beat the doors off Bama without Berry.

CJJ made a decision to sacrifice fielding for a stronger batting lineup. The fielding woes retarded sorting out the staff.

It's been interesting to watch. Mixed reviews right now. I think he made a tactical error thinking we could bludgeon SEC pitching. OTOH, we were 14-10 coming into the weekend and things were looking up.

He has never recruited teams THIS bad defensively.

This is a head scratcher and the beginning of the end yesterday.

How a D1 guy can attempt a routine double play with a knee on the ground facing first is incomprehensible.

They have also gotten worse since Jay has been here. He’s not a good defensive coach. That’s not breaking news or anything

It's not only the physical errors, it's the mental errors that the 2nd base and shortstop positions make that also cause a bevy of problems!

What bothers me is that Johnson seems completely disinterested when it comes to defense. Discussing yesterday's games, he mentioned the offense and pitching, but I didn't see where he mentioned errors at all. In fact, the only thing I recall him ever saying about defense is that they talk about it, and they have to play through the mistakes.

There's no way LSU has the worst athletes in the SEC or among the worst in the country, but they play defense that way. It concerns me that Johnson seems to have a blind spot regarding defense the way Les Miles did regarding offense. I hope that's not the case. The SEC is too good to give away runs every year and expect to win championships.

I agree. All he has said all year is that they’re working on it and they are just going to have to play through it. Now I’m sure they are working on it, but whatever they’re doing obviously isn’t working. Whoever is coaching the middle infield and catchers has done an awful job so far.

Announcers in the conclusion of the 1st game yesterday said Doughty was 2nd in errors in the SEC. 2nd to Thompson. You can not win on a consistent basis when your middle infielders lead the conference in errors
