We haven't been to Williams-Brice since 2008 so not mad at that. We get to keep our layup vs Vandy in 24

I may be mistaken, but I don't think we've played Vandy at home since 2009.

I know we played them two years in a row (2019 and 2020) but both in Nashville. The 2020 win is notable as it's unique: it will remain Myles Brennan's sole victory as a starting QB.

It's an awe-inspiring schedule overall, and the best home slate I think LSU has ever had.

Wins will be tough to come by, though. And not just for us, for everybody. The SEC could be a bloodbath.

Exactly. I don’t at all understand those LSU fans who want to keep a divisional structure that leaves LSU exiled to what feels more like the SWC or Big 12.

I agree, Arky should stay on our list as well as Ole Piss and Bama. Tha t is a bitch of a schedule next year.

Have Vandy in Tiger Stadium for first time in well over a decade. First thought was I wonder if Vandy is on Alabama schedule. Took a look, of course they do.

true, but losing them doesn’t bother me one bit. There was never much up side to having them on our schedule outside the few years they were out of the ordinary good.

I'd rather see State than Vandy on the schedule...but that's just me. Otherwise an awesome schedule.

Both schools are dogs*** in football the majority of the time, so does it really matter? In my opinion, not really. Plus, with the SEC getting even more bloated in the coming years (especially if a couple ACC schools jump in as was previously reported on TD), how much do legacy rivalries mean?

Bama, Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn...bring 'em on. The rest of the lot that's only "marginally adequate" on the gridiron (every once in a blue moon), well...

Now if only we could kick the fAGGIES out of the league I'd be happy.

Tickets will be pretty easy to come by for the neutral-site USC game in Vegas. That would be a nice getaway...

Why the frick are we playing Nicholls?

Unless you’re just becoming an LSU fan, you should already be aware that we have been slowly rotating through ALL of the Louisiana schools for the past decade (or longer) - including a historic game recently vs. Southern.

While most may not enjoy these games particularly, many will still also realize they are good for both LSU and the other teams. as well as the state of Louisiana overall. The actual results of the Southern game certainly validated what we all expected, but there are still many positives for these games.

Pros:
1) Given an SEC schedule which will both grow and become even more difficult with expansion, this is either a nice “catch your breath” or tune-up game for LSU, pending where it falls in the schedule
2) it keeps $$$ in the other state programs. Early justification and logic in this schedule was that it was better to keep that cash home than send it to “lower central but not quite southwest upper Idaho”
3) allows local kids from smaller schools that maybe were not quite SEC talent the opportunity to live a dream playing in Tiger Stafium
4) keep more homegrown LA talent in the State by helping build those programs
5) another win for LSU towards larger target of making playoffs
6) less travel for the other state programs and their fans
7) fun “water cooler” discussions and/or friendly wagers with more friends/family/neighbors

Everyone LSU would consider a bigger rival has someone else as a primary rival with the possible exception of Arkansas. LSU, A&M, Arkansas and Missouri are the last teams standing after everyone else is paired up. LSU-A&M and Arkansas-Missouri is the most logical arrangement of the 4 teams.

Aside from ending up with UK-USCe as another stretch choice, I would agree.

Bama-Auburn
Georgia-Florida
Texas-Oklahoma
Ole Miss-Miss St
Tenn-Vandy

Then the remaining 6 just make the best of what’s left:
LSU-A&M
Arkansas-Mizzou
Kentucky-South Carolina

Suppose you could even REALLY stretch it further by doing:
Kentucky-Mizzou (share small border)
Arkansas-Carolina (‘92 expansion teams battle)
But the previous seems a bit more logical.

Close enough to the new East/West that will hopefully get implemented... I'll take Ark, Ole Miss, MS St., Mizzou, OU, Texas and A&M every year and then rotate two of the east teams ever year. The only fair and objective way to get a new normal. The powers that be trying to "balance" the haves and have nots will never truly be fair. Geographical or bust!

That’s BS to me. Let’s have the opportunity to play every team home/away at least within 4 years instead of 12-15.

I'm glad we got Florida this one more year, at least; the series is 33-33-3. We've taken the last 4 games, if we can win this next one at home, we're back ahead in the series, even after what Spurrier did to us in the 90's. I wonder if that's why we got them instead of Auburn. We're comfortably ahead in that series.

While cool, I’m 99.9999999% certain that is not the reason.

So Bama is playing 5 former SEC East teams, and only 2 SEC West teams. Makes sense.

Yes, it actually does make sense if not from just purely a geographical basis. Adding Texas and Oklahoma pushes the state of Alabama further East in the geographical balance.

Auburn is going to be mediocre for awhile. But I would like to swap Florida for Auburn.
But not my decision. Loving Saban has UGA, Tenn. Auburn & LSU. They have always had the easiest schedule

They will the next year. Neither is going to be a permanent opponent.

The proposal to do a 1-7 format where each team only keeps one permanent opponent is incredibly destructive to the traditional SEC series- as well being a less consistent method of reaching two parties for the championship game.

It is also far from a small thing for series played for the better part of a century (or even more than 100 times) to be rotated as if they were no more valued than random matchups with very little history.

I hope sanity prevails and they don't end up doing the 1-7 because many of the following annual games would be lost:

Bama: Auburn or Tennessee, LSU, MSU, OM
Auburn: Alabama or Georgia, LSU, MSU, OM
Florida: LSU, Tennessee, Kentucky
Georgia: Auburn or Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina
LSU: Florida, Alabama, Auburn, OM, MSU
Tennessee: Alabama or Vanderbilt, Florida, Kentucky
