I’m excited to see Miller play and develop. In the clips I watched, he reminded me of a more physical Jalen Reed, possibly without ball security issues.

This year should be pretty exciting for basketball. I’ll be honest. I’ll be disappointed if we don’t make the tournament. Staying healthy will of course be key to a successful season

SF: Ty Ward/Dji Bailey
PF: Jalen Reed/Corey Chest/Damion Collins
C: Derek Fountain/Robert Miller/Noah Boyde

I think you got 1-3 right.
I think 4-5 are going to be more:
PF: Jalen Reed/Derek Fountain/Corey Chest/
C: Damion Collins/Derek Fountain/Robert Miller/Noah Boyde

Chest may even see time at the 3, depending on if he can defend the position we'll enough. If it is true he took the redshirt for lasik then we might see some ok shooting from him there as well.

Boyde taking another month to get cleared does open up playing time in the front court to keep everyone happy. I am worried about the log jam in the back court and hope the younger players can demand more time in the rotation with their play.

Here's my hot take for the year:

Damion Collins, if healthy, will be the best player on the team and make an All-SEC team.

Before he got hurt last year he was showing the signs of becoming a monster.

It’s year 3. In this era of college sports, there is no excuse for not making the tournament.

Of course, those that believe Woodward can do no wrong will have a boat load of excuses.

Based off recruting rankings it should be tournament or bust but the media consensus on this team is going to be anywhere from 12th to last in the SEC.

It’s simple, the talent says tourney team but the coach hasn’t shown any sign of capability. This is why the projections are so low. Hopefully he can turn it around.

CMM will show just how over his head he is and we will finish NIT again. But this is good news, because after CWW has another great season at McNeese, we can bring the General back home.

I see a team on the bubble most of the year with a solid chance to get in if can improve as the season goes. This team won't look great early but has potential.

We’ll need major improvements in all phases. Hope it happens.

I think the easiest predictor will be 3 pt%. I think the magic number is around 36.5. We should be improved on defense. If our 3pt shooting can be around that number we will have a good team.

Thing is last season we were top 3-5 in 3pt shooting in the SEC but he didn’t take advantage. Our attempts stayed near the bottom of the league. This is another problem he’s had, not knowing what his teams are and not able to adjust to what they can do.

This is something that’s bothered me the last 2 years. Hopefully, this team can sustain a good FG% with more attempts and not try to grind it out against other teams.

I mean we were 75th in the country in 3pt%. So we were an average 3pt shooting team. I do agree we should have had more attempts and coach likely let the lackluster 32% from 3 the year before impact the shots we took. Generally speaking though teams with more attempts are just playing at a faster pace overall. I'm not sure last years LSU team could play at that type of pace and I'm not sure this team is built for that either but we will see.

I love all these pre-season predictions of lineups and won/lost. The one thing that Coach Mac has had trouble with since he has been here is his rotations. He can't decide who to start, when to sub etc. And this year he seemingly has an even bigger set of players who are capable of seeing the court. I would imagine we go through at least five or six starting lineups before SEC play.

All I hope for is that we play uptempo and have an exciting brand of basketball with as few fouls and turnovers as possible. That makes for an enjoyable game from a fan standpoint.

If we can't play defense without excessive fouling and have the usual fumble fingers and bad decisions as last year, the result will be about the same. Here's hoping for better.

I just want to win. I don't care how Coach gets us there, but get us to the dance.

This is year 1 and he won’t make the tournament. It’s ok, no negative articles from Forde.

The best team in the state will be in Lake Charles.
