Paul Mubenga - Lol
Too harsh. I don't know if he will be a star, but he got better snap-to-snap and played well against an outstanding OU front seven.
Difficult to argue with most of your post, however.

Got a ton of PT vs OU and looked good to me. But yes, that class, like so many of ours seem to, flamed out.

Sorry, I accidentally skipped over him. He's added.
Don’t worry. He didn’t turn around to see this

Remember when Mubenga got “injured” on a false start? And then ran back out there for the third down. Kid is a clown

It’s pretty brutal when guys transfer when they’re buried on the depth chart after one year. Think of all the guys historically who didn’t start to produce until they’re third or fourth year in the program.
You’re going to be forced to use the portal just to build depth because you can’t keep anyone to ride the bench 2-3 years anymore.
Also seeing the effects of Polian and his dumb national recruiting approach. Focus has to be LA, TX and MS.
IMO, this is a very good post and captures the ethos of the day. Players like Nuss are a dinosaur now. And I also agree with the recruiting focus.

This isn't exclusive to LSU. This is just the way things are now.

That doesn’t look like building through high school recruiting

While I agree on focusing on those (with some GA and FL thrown in like we normally do), even a number of the LA and TX guys in the '23 class haven't panned out/ have moved on.

Zalance Heard - Not very good year at Tenn
Dashawn Womack - Portal - was passed up on depth chart
Jalen Brown - 8 catches for 75 yards at FSU
Jaxon Howard - 8 tackles at Minnesota
Rickie Collins - likely headed to G5 school
Mac Markway - 3 catches 16 yards
Ryan Yaites - 12 tackles 0 int 1 Pass defended at Cal
Khai Prean - 0 catches at Tulane
Christian Brathwaite - 2 tackles at Houston
Jeremiah Hughes - 4 tackles at Mich St
Jackson McGohan - 1 catch 2 yards at Wisc
Michael Daugherty - Comm College
Class was ranked 5th in country. None that transferred showed anything at lesser schools against lesser competition. We did not lose anything with these players transferring and if anything it allowed us to pursue guys like Aaron Anderson, Gio Paez and other guys that contributed this year and will contribute next year. Attrition is part of everyone's program especially with 85 man roster limits. But by all means let's continue the sky is falling melts.

So you just pointed out that half of that recruiting class just isn’t good at all. Is that supposed to make us feel better?
Posted on 12/3/24 at 2:33 pm to LSBoosie
exactly what’s going to happen every year
hard to get exited about recruiting knowing half the class will be gone by their junior year

Damn! The landscape of college sports sucks now
Posted on 12/3/24 at 2:37 pm to LSBoosie
LSU will never be able to rebuild a championship program again. They can’t when NIL does this.
Posted on 12/3/24 at 2:38 pm to LSBoosie
Yes, it should make you feel better. We culled the guys that aren't good enough. It's not like we were the only ones that misjudged these guys. The whole damn industry did and all the schools that offered them did too.
My other point is it will happen yearly too due to the portal and restrictions on schlorships. It allows us to go proven guys in the portal

We should disabuse ourselves of ever referring to the '23 class as the 5th ranked. For a depleted roster as we're so often reminded by the BK apologists, we should see the field flooded with super sophs from our Xth ranked class. Instead, we saw Weeks, Chester, and Stamps as major contributors and a few others with limited roles.

Yeah, BK should close the portal! He should magically convince players to forego more money elsewhere!
Well, he is being paid the big bucks to figure this shite out and put a decent product on the field.

Proven portal guys like Jyaire Brown, Jardin Gilbert, Austin Ausberry, AJ Swann, Zavion Thomas, CJ Daniels, Gio Paez, Blake Ochsendorf, Jay’Viar Suggs?
Those are the guys we got out of the portal last year. I would consider 4 of them to be a success. And 1 of those 4 is now in the portal again.

Yikes! We have some real solid talent evaluators on staff.

It indicates two things; the recruiting gurus aren’t very good and neither are our coaches.

All but Brown contributed this year. And everyone knows why Ausberry is on the team.
