2011 LSU with Jayden Daniels vs. 2019 LSU as is. Who wins?

2 loaded teams, 2 generational QBs. Would be must-see TV.

Burrow would have 10 Heisman moments on this defense.

Still taking ‘19.
JB and those receivers couldn’t be stopped.

Burrow would still be able to pick apart that defense.

But in this scenario, Burrow would be plying the 2011 defense.

Is the JD/2011 team still running the 2011 offensive system?

As long as Miles was the coach, other details don’t matter

I think y’all are forgetting just how dominant that 2011 defense was…
…I’m still taking 2019 -13.5.

*Misread the years
I'd take 2011 LSU with Daniels. That offense still had talent and while certainly not as robust as 2019, Daniels can more than close that gap.
Pair that with one of the best defenses of all time, 2011 takes it.

Burrow beat the number 1 and 2 defense plus 3 others in the Top 15 in one season…. I don’t care if Daniels would have played by the end of the season, the 2019 defense got all of their players back from suspension and injury. That is the difference.

I would lean towards Daniels with 2011 team.
2011 defense gets enough pressure to force a few stops. Might get a turnover too.
2011 offense had good backs, a very strong O line, Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr at WR.
And 2019 defense had trouble with QBs who could run. You might have forgot, but John Rhys Plumlee at Ole Miss ran for over 200 yds against the 2019 defense, and put up 37 points.
Texas put up 38, so did Vanderbilt (!), and Alabama put up 41. Auburn, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Clemson all put up over 20.
There's nothing to show that 2019 would slow Daniels down. There's a good bit of evidence that 2011 would keep Burrow et al around 20-30, the way Auburn (23-20) and UGA (37-10, with no rushing allowed but zero offense challenging us) did. The longer the game stays close, the better the chance that 2011 takes over the line of scrimmage, and Daniels makes huge plays late.
LSU in a close one

2019. Let's stop pretending anything comparison to that team

That 2011 D with Daniels as the QB would have been pretty salty (if we could keep Miles out of the way).....don't know which team would have won , but I would have paid to see that game....

2019 wins.
Part of the problem of 2011 was that the O-Line could not protect against a good rush, which is why JJ had to run so often

quote:That's all fine and dandy, but none of those defenses come close to what LSU 2011 put on the field. That West Virginia team that LSU beat on the road 47-21, they put 70 on Clemson in the Orange Bowl. The Oregon team we beat 40-27, their next lowest score was 34 pts, and scored over 40 11 times, over 50 4 times.
Burrow beat the number 1 and 2 defense plus 3 others in the Top 15 in one season
Even if you moan about the Bama NC rematch, that was a game where the offense did not exist, and the defense still held Bama to 5 FGs and a late TD (with a blocked xp).
*Daniels would have made 2011 LSU undefeated national champs, as he would have been enough to beat them in that game. Heck, he probably beats them the first time by enough that they don't even get a rematch. You have to understand, he's a much better passer than Cam, and just as dangerous as a runner.

UGA? Come on man. LSU didn’t play a team that could spread or play action pass you or a QB REMOTELY close to reading a defense like Burrow. The complexity today is different than then due to the concepts being run in college. Burrow would Brady them. Short short short BAM.
LSU had a defense better than 2011 in 1969 but we aren’t saying 69 would beat Burrow.

I’m taking 2019.
That 2019 defense would have destroyed an 11 year old Jayden Daniels

Auburn Gave 2019 offense hell. 2011 would have been more trouble for 2019. That would have been a good game.
