I was there in the stands and thought it was a terrible call.

I was there.... greatest game in Tiger Stadium history. And the loudest.

There was a different VIBE on campus all week, just like some are posting about the Clemson game tomorrow.

It was the loudest PRE-GAME from down on the field that I can remember as well. .

In 79, I was the Pre-Game Bass Drummer that played the beat for TGBFTL marching out of the South Endzone.

listened to that game on the floor in the hall of our house with my dad on a wooden radio that looked like a jukebox. Great memory.

I was there. I’ve never seen a home field crowd affect a game more than that night. That USC team was the most talented team to ever play in Tiger Stadium. But they had to fight for every inch that night.
I was in the North End Zone, and was yelling my head off. I didn’t see the details of the play in real time.
But looking at film now, 3rd and 9 or so, strong pass rush blew up the play but Benji Thibodaux snagged the QB facemask with his finger. That was a good call. But the refs missed the USC LT in motion before the snap. Should have been off-setting penalties and we replay 3rd and long.
I’d like to see the outcome in this alternative universe.

In fall 1979, John McKay was coaching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was John Robinson who was coaching the Trojans at that time.

I was there with my Dad in the south endzone. I remember driving down highland rd listening to the WJBO pregame complete with the Bayou Bengal bard. Everyone said we were playing the greatest college team of all time. What a night. I’ll never forget it. Miss you Dad.

My freshman year. Was one of the best atmospheres ever in Tiger Stadium. Very few games since have come close, but there have been a few.

I saw him get off the bus. He was a stud. That USC team had an aura—something you could feel. Very impressive.

Great game. USC had an illegal procedure that wasn't called on the winning drive if i remember correctly. McClendon went bonkers on the sidelines.
My family still has the same tickets since 1971.
