Just like Coach Miles. Joe Aleva doesn't like them to use timeouts. Students might cheer something to offend the 70 year olds and CBS

I don't think any of you critics watch anybody else's games but LSU's. I've seen North Carolina's coach Roy Williams sit idly by as his team was on the short end of an extensive run by Louisville on national television recently. Same thing for Mike K. at Duke.

Runs happen in today's style of basketball game. One team's 8 point run somehow turns into a 12 point run by the other team. Just WATCH basketball on television!

It is quite a showing of drastically different timeout philosophies. Donovan used his two in attempts to stop LSU runs of 7-0 and 4-0 (I think).

And yet JJ beat Donovan twice this year.

I'd be perfectly fine with him letting Mussellman call the X and O's the rest of the game while he left the PMAC and stuck to what he's actually good at in recruiting.

Not happening. Dale's Boy is not perfectly fine with letting that former NBA HEAD Coach take over the team and display a much greater knowledge of the game. If Johnny let Musselman take over, everybody would see the difference and he would lose any control he already has of the team.

Now just stay down there on the bench and shut up EM.

We've all seen the product displayed on the shelves. The jury is in.

Any long term success this program has under Johnny Jones will be due to a talent advantage where we just have better athletes on the floor. It surely will not be due to any superior X/O or game management skills.

JJ's game coaching skills aren't even close to being as good as Dale Brown's. But at this point in time, that's not necessarily bad for the LSU Basketball program. Have to get the wins and PMAC full at any and all costs!

BTW, there's a greater chance of both M & M coming back next season, than there is of M coming back......

LSU won dude. Did you hear? He must have done something right. Also, please don't cut down Ronald Dupree. He is a good coach.

You really think Cal, who has more talent that anyone in the country, would allow a run like Florida went on without any use of timeout? Really? That's bad coaching.

True, though Cal is not known as an Xs and Os genuis. If anything, Cal is known for aggregating talent and less for his coaching acumen. Poor analogy.

Jones does the hard part, recruiting players to BR. That alone keeps him here awhile. Its just frustrating to watch him struggle at the easy parts. Like simply calling timeouts when the opposition hits 8-0 and higher runs. It wouldn't piss me off as much if we didn't always end up with these timeouts in our pockets at the end of the game. Cal and Donovan and other great coaches call timeout when their teams are jacking up poor shots and the opposition hits 4 baskets in a row.

When your team turns it over on 3 possesions out of 4 times down the floor, a timeout is needed.

Anyone recommending a coaching change at this time in the rebuilding process is clueless about LSU and college basketball.

I think they are every bit as good as Dale's. Difference is Dale could and would delegate. I don't think CJJ has show that he can or will.

Know one reason why Jones is so good at recruiting? Players love his system and how he lets them play. They like that he doesn't micromanage every move they make and he allows them to play through their mistakes.
Are you saying he recruits well because he tells the recruits he won't get in the way and coach them?

Sounds like a solid strategy.

Hell, Coach Cal called a timeout up 26 out of halftime today when Auburn went on a 6-0 run

When is the right time to change coaches if you realize that the coach you have will never be a upper tier D-1 coach? This is an honest question. I don't think JJ should be fired today, but if I were Alleva I would be planning for life after Jones.

I perfectly understand that the program currently has momentum from a recruiting talent standpoint and a coaching change would hurt this momentum. I also know that driving longer in the wrong direction makes it even longer before you get to your real destination.

Are we forced to wait until the program becomes non-competitive? This might not happen for a while as JJ has shown the capacity to recruit. I hope I'm wrong about him but I doubt I am.

We shall see.
