$11 million gets you 10-3, 10-3, and 8-4. Why are people complaining about O's salary?

So far we are getting the same return on investment that Michigan is for almost quarter of the pay.

Seems pretty good to me.

I think people are more so complaining about O, not his salary.

The complaint is around his buyout not his salary

Its the fact he is head coach in the first place.

A lot of LSU fans aren't happy unless they're unhappy. End of discussion.

I think most people are upset over the existence of a buyout when Coach O doesn’t deserve one. Kinda defeats the purpose of LSU taking the budget route rather than hiring someone qualified to be a head coach. He’s pretty much a puppet.

His Buyout is the rest of his contract. What's ridiculous about that?

Because people understand little to nothing about market value and employment contracts. Their arguments on these topics are severely flawed.

His buyout is there as a defense during recruiting season against other schools telling recruits that he won't be at LSU very long or will be easily removed, etc. That's really why it is what it is.

Orgeron is being judged on getting blown out by Mississippi State and losing to Troy and he very well should be. The Mississippi State loss could have been forgiven because they were a decent team who punched a young team in the mouth early in the season and they had no response. It happens. But when you lose to a team like Troy, that kind of shite resonates with everyone.

ETA: I'm not saying he should be fired at this point or that I don't think he can win the SEC, I'm just pointing out why everyone is so pissed. If he beat Troy and went 10-2 with the one loss to State and the other to Bama while the team was constantly improving, there wouldn't be that many people bitching.

No one is complaining about O's salary. Who did this?
What are you talking about?
Hes one of the lower paid SEC blue bloods. The complaints that Ive heard vary from LSU is paying 2 salaries for the same result, all the way to him being chosen in the first place. You can argue any of the complaints vs O's doing a good job and have a decent argument either way. Pick a side everyone else has.

Fine but it’s not vaporware. It’s a real thing that LSU will have to pay if it wants to upgrade at some point.

Only in a very low risk scenario. Once hired, O was going to get three years minimum. Absent a collapse, the buyout will never be triggered or it will be very low. The reason the buyout became an issue is that After Troy, it looked like the “very low risk scenario” would play out. To O’s credit, it did not.

People can dicker with whether O should have been hired, but now that he has been, the constant bitching does LSU no good. For recruiting and for future hires, LSU entered into a standard contract. And O will be here through 2019. So get used to it.

Most of these stupid mofos would be happier with a 6-6 Tom Herman and would make excuses defending him.

Tom Herman wouldn’t have been 6-6. He likely would have been 9-3 (he beats Troy but loses to Auburn).

True. But I think like the above poster said, the buyout was simply ceremonial and shows that Alleva had NO intentions of firing O after one year. It could have been $120 million instead of $12 million. It didn't matter. LSU was never going to be paying a buyout of any amount after this season.

O was a bad choice at any price. No two ways about it.
