It's a one year wait list right now so keep that in mind.

It got me the first few holes as well lol although on 13 the pin was front middle up on the shelf and I hit my shot to the back fringe. Had to putt up that huge hill and resulted in my only 3 putt lol left it halfway up the hill and luckily it didn't roll back.

Greystone was great today. Looked fresh cut but rolled true and held pitch shots. Course is fantastic overall

Not as accurate as the GC3/BLP. Actually just compared them side by side a few days ago.

Carter started an MGA this year. It’s still in the “testing phase” so no entry cost this year but so far it’s been successful. They open the course to the MGA on maintenance day (Tuesday) once a month and have several other tournaments planned and played to date.
I will have to check it out if that is the case. Appears they may be back on the right path.

Their greens were awful.... now they're doing a greens renovation... this is a good thing, not a bad thing.
Oak Knoll has a pool and seems to cater to families. My problem with the golf course at the moment is they seem to attract a largely clueless public golf crowd with zero etiquette. They really need to enforce a dress code and get some marshals out there.
They did a green renovation quite a few years back and it didn't end well. Hoping for a different outcome this time definitely, I play out there a good bit still. Do wish they had some room to move the tee boxes back as 6000 yards from the tips is meh. Crowd is definitely awful, not sure if it's the reduced rates with the temp greens out there or what.

'd probably join Carter again if I were you, but it sounds like you're against that. It's a great course and is close to you. I don't think I could bring myself to be a member at a place that was 45+ minutes away.
Love the course and location. Just feels like they want nothing to do with having members, they pivoted to a "play pass" now where its just discounted rounds if you buy a package. No member member, member guest, 4 balls, etc. Just really unfortunate because the course is awesome.

Thanks, very insightful and definitely makes me open up more towards Beau Chene. The aspect of it being fully private outside of tournaments makes it much more appealing along with pretty active games on the weekends. Luckily I have a sim at my house so no real need for driving range access although those launch monitor stations are sweet out there.

That would be Beau Chene
Northshore Membership

I am looking to become a member somewhere and I just wanted to get some opinions on some local Northshore clubs and any positives/negatives of each in my surrounding area that I may not be thinking of. Some background info, I am in my early 30s with a family and live very close to Oak Knoll. I play at least one round a week and used to be a member at Carter for 5 or so years before they decided they wanted to be a Florida resort course lol. I have been weighing a few options regarding membership and each have some downsides with most of them being the length of drive.
1. Oak knoll. Obviously cheap and very close but their greens are awful and I am really not sure how the renovation is going to look by this time next year. Not really private, only a small handful of member golf events. 10 minutes from my house which makes for a few mid week rounds. It's also just a short course, tipped out around 6,000 which isn't great.
2. Greystone. Leaning this option as it's pretty cheap but a 45 minute drive one way. Give priority booking for members, seems to have a good balance of younger/older crowd and they do a ton of member tournaments/events. Course is great but semi private.
3. Beau Chene. Another good option with a similar drive, benefit of being fully private and two courses. Really have no info on how the course looks now a days as it's been over a year since I have played there. Also not sure how the member culture is there and if they do a lot of member events.
4. Money Hill. Cheap for my age bracket but is in the middle of no where. 50 minutes from my house so pretty similar drive as the others. Have never actually played the course but hear it's great.
5. Carter. Great course but they really have no interest in being rewarding for being a member. Just packing the tee sheet.
6. Tchefuncta. Expensive compared to the other options but real convenient location, 30 minutes from my house and right off the interstate. Have no idea what the member life is like there and also have never played a round out there to know how the golf is.
Look forward to seeing any and all info yall may have to help with a possible decision. I do play tennis but not a main concern as I play at North Cypress a lot. Leaning Greystone or Beau Chene given everything above but some outside opinions always appreciated.
Side note: bonus for good Friday games. I am off on Fridays and always easy for me to get a round in so a big plus would be skins games etc on Friday mornings.

re: How important do you consider the ball you play as a mid-handicap?
Posted by BradL13 on 6/15/26 at 11:02 am to Jon A thon
They make a pretty big difference but if you are losing multiple balls a round I would definitely hold off on the more premium balls. Might would take a look at some of the maxfli tour balls, better quality with a good price point until you are comfortable not losing multiple per round. Best thing is to just get used to one ball for short game to know the feel and results you can expect.

Greystone’s pins have been something else lately.
Played there Tuesday afternoon for the first time in a while, definitely a fun challenge.

Just stop it! STOP! Two entirley different situations. Bosa had a season ending injuruy. He was told he could possibly return for a playoff game or Bowl game and that he may not be 100% even by then. He made the right decision.
lol, Bosa was cleared over halfway through the season. Told his team he wasn't coming back and starting prepping for the combine and draft. Sitting out the bowl games causing players to slide in the draft is such an ignorant take.
You're exactly right lol bowl games are meaningless. If they never started playing them no one would ask for a game after the season is over. Once you play your schedule and you do not advance to the post season, your year should be over. I'll never fault a player for securing their future over a pointless game that no one will talk about in a year. People just want more football to watch and instead of saying that they act like the game means something.
Charles got absolutely abused at LT all game long it seemed like.
Stanford? When was the last time anyone was worried about them.. lol
Makes me sick to think LSU is behind the University of Washington in recruiting...

Easy answer. Lose and keep Aranda. Like you said it is a meaningless bowl game no one will remember in a year.

Tre picked off tom brady. brady went for 447 and 3tds vs lattimore. pretty sure most if not all wa directly vs lattimore
LOL, I spit my coffee out reading this. I know someone who didn't watch the game. It was actually pretty talked about how Lattimore was the only one on the defense who played well. Actually shut down Cooks. But hey man, keep hating and assuming when you obviously didn't watch.
And I agree with this but they set the precedent last year that Conf Championships don't always put you in from your conference. I don't like it but I knew as soon as OSU beat Wisconsin that Bama would be in. 6 team playoff with 1 at large hopefully comes soon but I honestly don't see it happening considering teams would have to give up a regular season game to make it happen from a health stand point.
