Why can’t we just win the SEC Tourney one frickin time!!!!

The best I’ve seen in my lifetime:

LSU made it to the Championship game in 1993
LSU has made it to the semis a handful of times, last time was in 2009.

This team could still do a lot of damage in the tournament. We can play with pretty much anybody if we give a full effort. i would not want to play Kansas though. Azubuike would have 20 alley oops on us.

Yea, you hate to waste an 8-0 start and not win the conference but screw it, lets try and finish strong and make some noise in the tourney.

Right now we are a projected 8 seed. If we win these last 2 and win 1-2 in the SEC tourney, we hopefully will climb back to the 6-7 area, which gives us a chance to make it to the 2nd weekend. I know February was rough, but I would have taken this position (11-5) in a heartbeat if offered preseason and I expect many of you reasonable people would as well. We ridin!

I think the only people who had really low expectations for this team are the LSU fans. They were picked to finish 3rd in the SEC and make the NCAAT. This wasn't a bad team devoid of talent coming into the season. So basically they are about on pace/slightly behind preseason expectations. Certainly that is not a bad thing. AT ALL. Wade has clearly elevated the program.

However, as the season has played out 11-5 (at this point) is a bit disappointing considering the offense (which everyone was concerned about with losing Waters) has been fantastic, the rebounding has been almost on pace as last season, AND, most notably, the SEC was much weaker this season compared to last. We'll see what happens the rest of the way, but thus far this team has left some meat on the bone. Certainly they have some holes in the roster and the injuries haven't helped, but the complete collapse on defense is surprising and inexcusable. This team certainly has the personnel to be at least an average team defensively (relative to the major conferences). Just being that would likely have this group with at least 24 wins and a top 15 squad. This hasn't been a great year for college basketball and there was/is a lot for the taking.

Now, certainly they can get hot down the stretch and make a run. The talent is good enough to do so and there are very, very few (maybe just one - Kansas) dominant teams this year. But right now I look at this group compared to the rest of college basketball and the SEC and think they have been good overall but have left some chances out there to be really good this season.

Good morning, stupid fig who has never played

I have played, and I know first hand that young legs can play big minutes.

Now sure, if we had a couple more bodies, it would be better if our guys could play 35 minutes instead of 40. But college ball isn't like the NBA, where they play 4 games per week with much more travel, and it's truly a physical grind.

College players have NCAA-limited practice time, and only 2 games per week. Young legs can handle that.

11-5 in SEC basketball by dragonNRG45
Why didn’t you use the regular season trophy in your response?

This thread is about tournament seeding, dumbass. Plus, in 2009, LSU was regular season champions and got a 8 seed. So, it is in fact something champions have to deal with....,

I dont see us really making up much ground in the SECT. Playing back to back days with 6 SEC caliber players ins't really gonna be a recipe for success.

That being said I think we are right where we wanted to be before the season started. I think we have gotten less out of Taylor than I hoped (injury was significant reason for that) and a little more than i expected out of Manning though his injuries have hurt us too.

You take out the inexcusable loss at Vandy and it's basically right where I would have hoped to be.

Just like Coach has said the goal this year was to make the tournament. We have to build a program that expects to be in the tournament every year. This roster was lacking at spots and Coach has done a good job offensively hiding our inefficiencies but defensively we have to figure something out moving forward.

LSU will play one game against the 6 or 7 seed then Auburn. Even being back to back they can win both of those games.

They just have to win on Friday in the Quarters. LSU basketball loves laying eggs in the SEC Tournament. I'd love to see them break the semifinal curse.

I just feel like we’re stuck in the 8-9 seed range unless we win the last 2 and 2 in the SECT. I’d love to somehow get to the 7 line. Either that or fall to the 10 line.

With having an incomplete team and without a commanding PG the fact we are in this position says a lot about WW's philosophy even if it pisses us off sometimes. Oh and back to back tourney appearances.

The offense is the most efficient in the SEC and T-3rd best in the nation. Smart is 6th in the SEC in assist per game (just 8 total assist from being 4th) and 3rd in the league in Asst/TO ratio. He is averaging the fewest TO's per game of all but one of the league's primary ball handlers. Just because he hasn't been as flashy at Waters doesn't mean he hasn't been good. The offense has relied more on motion than the high-ball screen offense they ran with Waters, but has been every bit as efficient.

The "we don't have a PG" excuse is complete bullshite. Offense has NEVER been this team's problem.
