I think he's gone after this year too. No way he doesn't get a HC job somewhere.

can we enjoy the season without this bs?

zero reason for him to leave making what he is here unless a prime spot opens up. he can cherry pick.

nobody knows shite. he may be back.

I’m not so sure about that. I think he’s taking the Kirby and Venables route. If we was just going to take any job he would’ve went to Tulane last year. It’s going to take a big one to lure him away.

Now he may very well land a big one this year.

You could see Florida State and Clemson come open this year. I think those could be spots that could potentially come after him. South Carolina I could see.

Just depends on what comes open in my opinion.

LSU invested more on its defense this year than Tulane will the whole program and I think that’s what scared Baker away from going back to his alma mater.

Could see him ending up at Clemson, UNC or South Carolina if those jobs open up.

it's just not a big job though... it's a big job with the financial / NIL potential in place to get him the horses.

a "brand name" without a good NIL budget is not going to be a great situation to leap off to

So you really think he just signed that huge deal to be a DC and have the best D currently to shop a for a job next year?

I see it different. He’s in his place. I don’t see him as a HC type where he will go to some mid major and try and work himself up. What “big time” school is going to hire him? Clemson, FSU?

If the guy wants to take the Aranda route and go to a place like Baylor then more power to him. I just don’t see it.

I see he's being mentioned as a possible replacement for Dabo Swinney at Clemson should Swinney get the axe. I think Tony Elliot will get that job, though.

Yea that’s what I’m saying. Tulane is one of the best g5 jobs out there and his alma mater and he still didn’t take it. It’s going to take a job that he thinks he can win a championship at to leave imo.

First those jobs have to actually come open and secondly they have to actually pursue a coordinator.

I would not be surprised if Blake is back next year. I think it’s much more likely we lose Weis.

This would be an excellent move for both parties. If he brought in a great young DC who was also an excellent recruiter and a seasoned offensive coordinator that he could let do his thing, they'd be back to a perennial 10-win team in no time

It would be sweet if he decided he’s cool with being the best and highest paid DC in the country.

Good. Are we supposed to hope for mediocre or bad defense to keep our DC ? What even is this post. ?

I do love blake baker but he is replaceable.

This defense has a ton of talent.

You give a good defensive coordinator this much talent and he should have a top defense.
