Who is your top 10? Not what you predict AP to be. But who are the top 10?

1. Miami
2. Georgia
3. OSU
4. Indiana
5. ND
6. Kentucky
7. LSU
8. Alabama
9. Ole Miss
10. UCLA

UCLA is eliminated. Can’t have a backup qb make playoffs. They showed that with FSU.

That was the last game of the year. UCLA will make the playoffs even with a loss at this point

Depends, we talking resume or power rankings because for me those are very different.

Wrong. The backup won the ACC champ game. The committee said and I quote “they are a different team without Travis”

Is ucla a different team without their star qb?

Crazy thing is the schedules for both are close to identical.

and a four team playoff. We also love to forget that the committee let OSU with their 3rd string QB who led them to a championship that year.

On a neutral field, I would take this LSU team over them all.

Honestly I don't know; I'd create an ELO system and use that.

Purely going off the eye test:

Miami - overrated and has a soft schedule
BYU - overrated for tv ratings and to give ND the appearance of a difficult opponent
Ohio State - Elite coaching and recruiting, probably near the top even with the loss @ Texas
ND - perpetually overrated, will lose 1st round of playoffs
Georgia - same as Ohio State
Indiana - one hit wonder, Cignetti doesn't have any more 26yo James Madison players to raid
Ole Miss - overrated, living off the fumes of the program Lane built; doesn't have it to go far
Texas Tech - overrated, haven't played anyone with a pulse; living off reputation as big spenders
UCLA - somehow dodged Ohio State, Indiana, Northwestern, and Minnesota; undefeated on weak schedule
Utah - punches above their weight, but they're getting beat by Houston so not their year
Tennessee - 2 losses by a total of 6 points, would give almost all teams trouble despite the SC loss
Kentucky - not an elite team, favorable bounces have them at 7-1 instead of 5-3
Alabama - top 12 but not a serious contender for the title
Houston - would get wrecked by half the SEC and Big10
Iowa - elite defense as always, abysmal offense as always; not top 12

This is to say I'm not terribly impressed by the teams we are told to be impressed with.

I cannot get my head around UCLA being in 1st in Big 10.

Doesn’t sound natural.

That whole bullshite process set that FSU program back years .

I like their coach, just the ball hasn’t bounced his direction.

Not an FSU fan at all but they got screwed big time out of that last 4 team playoff

I don’t think Kentucky is better than us at all. Neutral site and take away all the gifted calls and points they had? LSU by 10 or more. I wouldn’t bet on ND or Indiana beating us either. That’s not the same team from last year

It was all bullshite and politics anyway...

There was no way the committee was going to leave an SEC team out. Remember, that was when the SEC was still in the midst of an unprecedented run of national titles. Georgia was the clear #1, but then they fricked around and lost in the SEC championship.

You had Michigan and Washington undefeated, had to let them in (Michigan being Big 10, and Washington having taken committee favorite Oregon down twice).
Florida State was by rights the 3rd team, but that made problems. You had UGA losing, so the SEC team was going to be 1 loss Bama (who beat them). Problem with that, Texas was also a 1 loss team, and they beat Bama (and pretty convincingly) that year.

So, it should have been Michigan, Washington, Florida State and Texas. But again, you can't leave the SEC out. And you can't leave Texas out if you take Bama. You can't leave an undefeated Big 10 team out, and you can't leave Washington out after beating Oregon (twice)... so you find an excuse to leave Florida State out. Losing Travis was the ticket. It's just a polite way of saying "of all the teams available, we like you the least and you won't bring viewers".
