SFP, you obviously don't get it, Flynn was a game manager, he's a white QB.

he was a great game manager/leader with a great D, running game, and o line.
Flynn threw like 12 picks or something like that. that is NOT a game manager. not only that, but he threw the ball downfield to guys like Bryd. What game manager do you know throws the ball downfield often?

then he sucked b/c he threw a ton of picks and his completion rate was sub-60%

Watching Garrett throw during pre-game was extremely impressive for me. i haven't seen someone throw such a beautiful ball in a long time in t.s.

Flynn was a mediocre QB with an extremely high ability to not be affected by big pressure situations. The kid was unflappable and that was his biggest quality. He was not consistently good---if he was LSU would not have been in as many close games as they were. But, Flynn could make game winning plays with his arm and legs when needs be.

Says Les Miles. I guess he has no love lost for Jamarcus who was nothing if not a pure passer.
Just admit you are a self loathing dumb arse and let it go. Since Matt Flynn means just that. He that also does not include Bert Jones or Y.A. Tittle along with JR.

Flynn could throw a good deep ball. Fact.

this is about as stereotypical as skin color is. A 'game manager' is a QB that gets his team out of bad plays, knows when to take a timeout, knows how to manage the clock, doesn't get a ton of false starts, etc. Has nothing to do with his completion percentage, td's, picks, etc.

Zach Lee best pure passer since Chris Garrett- I agree.

Saying he is better than what we've had since Flynn is not really going too far out on that limb.

Sounds like a slight on his prior QB recruits. So after how many recruiting seasons did it take you to bring on a passer?

Kind of wonder how JJ and Garrett feel about that statement
+1. I'm really excited about Chris Garrett and heard he's been looking great in practices. Looked like he could really throw the rock at the spring game too. I understand Les is pumped for his new QB recruit, but I don't think he should be making statement like this. If I were Chris Garrett or JJ I'd take offense to it. Hopefully it'll just be added motivation.

flynn has an odd legacy. Overrated as frick by some and undervalued by another segment.

Flynn was great, but he used his legs a lot too. Wouldn't really call him a pure passer.
now JaMarcus' slow arse was definitely more of a pure passer. Best part about him I remember was if it was 3rd and 15 we were most likely going to get it.

Sinceis the key word. Jamarcus Russell started, thenMatt Flynn started. Therefore, Lee is the best pure passer sinceFlynn. It isn't that hard to figure out.

Flynn had moxie. He could stink up the place but he wasn't afraid. Sorta Farvish with out the talent. He had that because he had all the tools to work with. If JJ gets a few more tools(OL) and forgets about the JL debacle we will be in good shape. Senior year he'll be pushing the record book.
