Isn't he the highest paid DT coach in the country?

It was supposed to be long game.
But no NIL will get worked out, it’s already starting to be worked on with the players association agreeing to make the necessary changes. So yes I have been paying attention, have you? But yes that is why Saban left, he was to old and had nothing left to prove to wait for the changes that will come. BK is smarter than you and knows what is going on so I’d bet on him anyday about the inner workings of a P5 program before agreeing with you

All of these threads are dumb.

LSU not buying players
Yes, because we still buy coaches.

Yall ever thought to yourselves that maybe just maybe….you don’t spend money on average players and you use said money to get a top 3 class like we have in 2025?
Man don’t you know you can’t confuse the negatigers and BK haters with facts. How dare you!

These people aren't LSU fans, they're just trolls. Likely fans of other SEC teams, they just come on here to get everybody riled up. I wish mods would do more about it because I enjoy this board for news.

Blew all the money on next year’s class.

We didn’t blow it. Anybody is acting like they heard of Williams or Barrow before the portal window is lying….
Those dudes weren’t worth the market value they were given.

There's a reason you don't see guys in professional sports getting top of the market deals for their position when they're not top of the market players.
Rational market behavior doesn't exist right now in college football.
That said, good for the kids, get what you can (personally, I think there needs to be revenue sharing b/c you've got schools, administrators and coaches raking it in, but the players have been left out for far too long).

If they allow schools to directly compensate players then yes they can cap
Highly unlikely unless those terms are collectively bargained for. The NFL has a salary cap ONLY because the players and owners agreed to those terms. MLB doesn't because the players' union won't agree to it.
More than that, the schools DO NOT want to directly compensate the players. It's a terrible business model for them relative to the current model. One, where the school doesn't have to share any of the revenue generated (in part) by the players. The players are getting paid...but by outside entities.
Likewise, football and men's basketball players DO NOT want direct compensation from the school. One, because that would bring federal law into play that would likely required equal compensation among all athletes. Men and women. Right now football and basketball players are getting paid market value. That almost assuredly goes away with direct compensation. Second, the players hold a ton of leverage in NIL negotiations as there are, essentially, perpetual free agents. No union representing there interest would want to give that up. MLB fought against it all the way to the USSC

Texas ALSO didn't sign the same DTs that LSU didn't sign.

Who in the spring portal is a difference maker?
For real, Jacobian Guillory should've entered the portal. He's as good as any players that were in the late portal, which is like last call at the bar. The 5's look like 9's.

Well I mean who never of Dominic Williams from the defensive juggernaut TCU?!
Funny thing is they gave up the same amount of yards per game and points allowed as LSU’s historic awful defense last year but this guy was gonna save our DL? Come on!
Didn’t Colorado put up like 50+ on them?

Congress put a bill forward to shield the ncaa, conferences, and schools from lawsuits. Giving them more power to make policies without being sued every time.

Bo didn't have to worry about that at UT. Just curious what this does to asst coaches.
If you're going to buy ready-made players, what do you need Bo Davis for? So the answer is, yes, they will stick around and do what they've done long before NIL which is coach and develop players.

And they got real far with that philosophy didn’t they? I’m guessing they must have won at least 3 of the last 5 national championships right?

Salary cap like NFL. Rookie contracts. Believe me, not everyone is a star!

Texas is having some issues too.....we just have to trust the system. We will be just fine.

What elite DL have they signed recently? Bo made 86 3* Sweat and 89 4* Murphy elite?
Also our recruiting classes the last 2 years have equaled theirs
