Why isnt Ray Parker signing early?

I saw it mentioned on dandy don briefly. Sorry if already posted, I didnt see it anywhere.

The only info I heard is that he wants to play TE not OT and may be holding out for that opportunity

He's holding off because there's something strange...in his neighborhood. In fact he said "there's something weird...and it don't look good."

Give him a shot at tight end first. See if he can compete for playing time with Pettigrew, Carter, the JUCO signee, etc.
If he can't move past those guys, he should be open to changing positions.

I want to say I read some where he was in danger of not qualifying and needed to do some serious work in the classroom. Not sure if thats the reason for not signing today or if theres more to it...

Ray needs to get his grades in line. Does that have anything to do with him signing early, I really don't know. The coaches let him play the last few years and he truly didn't make the grades. As a coach you need to make sure these kids are performing in the classroom. He does want to play TE and has the speed and hands to do so, but he is also a great blocker.
Allow him the chance to compete at TE and then do what is best for the team.

The coaching staff has already agreed to this. It shouldn't be the issue.
