Maybe not a LB at the next level but he would be a fierce safety. Definitely a football player and has stepped in and made play after play.
Some may not agree but Mayfield can play his first year at any program. I have watched him since junior high and he has always been “that kid”. 3 years - Semi finals, 2 trips to the Dome and one Championship.

He has clearly been the anchor of the defense for 3 years. Zheric Hill is up next but Mayfield will always be mentioned with the best LBs to come out of Ruston, really N Louisiana.

is that the linebacker #22? all over the field making plays if so

That is him! He should be a 3 year All State LB. I don’t know how he gets passed over as MVP for 5A on defense. Kid has become a legend at Ruston High and there have been some great ones ahead of him.

What about Ahmad Breaux for Ruston in defense. He is a LSU commit. How did he look?

Bro is just a man amongst boys. He played 60+% at DT this because Ruston lacked a solid big man in middle. Breaux will make an impact at LSU. Kid is tenacious and of course having Kyle Williams as your coach definitely assists in being prepared for the next level.
If I am not wrong, he had 12 tackles this year and 9 last year in the Dome. This year he didn’t play as much behind the QB as the last two years. But he only started varsity 3 years. They have him listed at 5’10 / 225lbs.

He attacks the ball in a similar fashion to Devin White. Some would say he is the best linebacker in the state this year and I would agree.

I know we always talk about passing the eye test, but this kid is a flat out monster. He was a 3 year starter for Ruston and had 12 tackles in the state championship game. Some say he is 5’10 and some say 6’, but his play on the field…..maybe LSU doesn’t recruit him, but he will be a star at La Tech, if he stays.

I don’t think WR is in his future. He is a QB and he has grown by leaps and bounds over this year alone. He went from a 0 star to a 3 star recruit in 48 minutes (seriously). He is a humble kid and he needs some polishing but what high school kid doesn’t?

He played in jr high and stopped to concentrate on basketball. The LB, Hill convinced him to come back and play. He is super talented and can play on an island by himself. With the front line like Ruston has, they create a lot of qb mistakes and the corners benefit a lot. Kid is the truth and is very humble.

Yes, his dad is in his life! Geez, c'mon gents be better. Ahmad attends RHS and coach Hudson is the AD and head coach for the boys basketball team at Lincoln Prep 3 miles from RHS. He's always there supporting his son when not conflicting with his job and duties. You literally can't miss Hud because of his height and size.

Just because a dad lives close to his kid(s) doesn’t mean they are a part of their lives. I am not going against what you are saying but that’s not for any of us to discuss on a public forum.

AJ is going in great hands and he is a great kid that is going to be awesome addition, on and off the field, if he chooses LSU!

They have any more Ahmad’s?

??????
I don’t think so

is antonio in his life? doesnt seem so

I can’t really speak on that, but he has a mom that will sacrifice it all for her kids. She had two boys playing AAU for two different organizations and every weekend they were always in two different states and she made it happen with ease. She is awesome!
AJ’s mom was also an athlete and his little brother Brandon is also going to be a two sport sensation.
His first love is football but he has seen so much early success in basketball. Glad to have a front row seat on this journey with this young man!
He played DE in Jr High. He is 220lbs. Kid is massive and definitely looks the part. He is a great kid in the classroom also. Needs to learn how to run to improve his speed a little, but has soft hands. Don’t forget he plays QB for the freshman team.
Football has always been his first love. Played DE and QB in Jr High. They moved him to WR and he loves it. He loves to make plays. Definitely not the fastest WR but hard to guard because of his jumping ability and his ability to high point the football. He is one of the very few Freshman to come up so early at Ruston. I think basketball wins out.

I personally know him and he is a great kid.
Had some amazing catches during the Ruston vs Byrd varsity scrimmage. And also tossed a couple of TDs as the Freshman QB.

He is now 6’6, 220lbs

He left JB because of differences with the coaching staff.

re: Ahmed Breaux commits to the good guys!

He is definitely a beast! I knew Duke wouldn’t hold him.
Stars matter for sure but there are always exceptions to that rule. Justin Jefferson, Honey Badger and there are quite a few more…. This kid Breaux is special and if you see him play up close, you will walk away very impressed. He played TE his sophomore year and was very productive. His numbers don’t lie!

Mayfield would be a better addition than Adkins who is a 4 star. Mayfield has stood up and crushed top tier competition and been a two year starter and two year all state performer on the 5A level.
