Following the path of the ULM running back from this season. You can either go sit the bench and hope, or bet on yourself, go to a smaller school, ball out and transfer after your first season for more money.

Could it be academic?

Why does that affect their strategy.

until the kid isn’t the best back on the team and he’s throwing a fit for not getting the PT he was expecting.

That’s a general statement on anyone selling a kid on a 1 year plan. If it doesn’t work it’s usually a shite show. Not many kids are understanding and take it as a development year.

People don’t realize how much drama these coaches deal with. There was a guy on 247 that was on Darrell Williams HS coaching staff who was telling stories about how Frank Wilson had a different RB and their parents in his office complaining about playing time because of Fournette.

He probably saw the success ULM freshman RB Ahmad Hardy had last year. He did well enough to earn freshman All-American honors and then jumped in the portal and signed with Missouri.

Go go ULM, start and put up big numbers and then parlay that into some NIL money at a P4.

Lester, was he just dead set on playing RB? Do you know if he had any offers at LB from anyone?

ACT and SAT are no longer required to play D1 sports.

If it were academics, he wouldn't be going to ULM, either. They have the same initial eligibility standards as every other D1 school.

I've said it for 2 seasons now and just get downvoted everytime.

Its time to join forces with another Louisiana school, like UL. Why? Because when we have recruits who we want to keep in our "program" but dont have spots for them on our roster or can't offer them playing time, just have em sign with UL. UL's program could be run like ours, same offense and defense scheme so that players could learn and grow as well as receive playing time. You can also help them out with NIL, and it would make UL a more attractive program because UL doesnt have things like a nutrition program.

Yall know that Walker Howard is there first ever 5 star? Yeah. They've lost 20 players to the portal and only brought in TWO.

It helps both programs, could actually make UL competitive and garner a few 4 and 5 star recruits that they wouldnt possibly get before.

You have to be fast at LB too. LB isn’t just a position for failed RBs.

Roosevelt Potts, Greg Robinson, and Irving Spikes all started at RB in the NFL and played at NLU along with WRs Vincent Brisby, Jackie Harris, Marty Booker and Stepfret Williams. Moving to 1-A was a stupid move by NLU and their talent level has been limited the last 20 years. Those early 90s NLU teams would have given a bad LSU team from then fits.

This is a good idea in theory, except you can't make kids go there if they have better offers elsewhere. You also can't make the coaches run our schemes, if it doesn't work and causes them to lose their jobs.

For example, we didn't have room for the RB from Mandevillle. But why would he go to USL and hope to maybe go to LSU one day, when he could do the same at Duke?

I just looked at ulm roster and they have a 4 star dl they recruited last year and a transfer rb who is also a 4 star athlete. Many 3 star recruits and portal guys from bigger schools transferring in. They also lost some good talent in the portal including a rb to the portal to Missouri. I didn’t realize the talent level that their new coach has brought in.
